Summary: With the ad reading a cinema speaker system I had mistakenly thought this would be like a stero around sound. the JBL speakers are great. When I played music on them my CCR sounded like it did when I went to the concerts.
Summary: I love the sound from these, so I'd give them 5 stars for that. However, I have to knock a star off, because they have cheap interfaces. The spring loaded wire connectors, nothing but a keyhole mount (that was too small to fit most mounting brackets I found), and I nearly punched a hole through the subwoofer speaker because it is open faced down, and you would never know the speaker is open air like that until you grab the subwoofer from the bottom to move it.
Summary: These speakers do the job OK, the sound is acceptable for movies and TV. I like them OK, don't love them. Be aware that you do need a separate amplifier to receiver to use these. First they come in a really really big box which is kind of a pain to deal with. They come with speaker stands that require assembly, and which are not difficult to assemble but there are not holes for the screws in the bottom of the speakers.
Summary: This is a very nice looking complete surround sound system. I am a fan of JBL products, but was not sure how it would compare to a more expensive Bose system I had in another room. I was pleased to find that despite the system's fairly compact size it sounds great, and rivals a system that costs almost twice as much. A good value for the money I would recommend.
