Summary: I recently set up a secondary gaming/entertainment location centered around a Yamaha RXA800, matched JBL Balboa bookshelf and center channel speakers, and a Pinnacle 200W subwoofer. While I was not expecting much at this price point, I was pleasantly surprised with the result. This center channel is built solidly, and delivers clean dialog and mid tones.
Summary: I purchased this to go with my Floor Standing JBL Speakers, they look Identical but diff models. I am amazed at the sound difference from this and the S**Y I had before, specs were same and this sounds better. Attached to my Harmon Kardon Receiver this Finished my JBL Setup and people are amazed, Most of my friends have the Small Box set all in one setups and dont know what real seakers and receivers can do for you, just the other day My friend and I were watching IN...
Summary: Bought this because it was a great price for the unit. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of sound reproduction. The 5-inch dual speakers do a good job of reproducing the entire usable range of sound for a center-channel speaker. Much easier to understand the dialog from DVDs and Blu-Ray discs, as well as Netflix streaming. You can spend a lot more for center-channel speaker, but few of us can tell the difference, if there is one.
Summary: Back in the day JBL's were highly regarded. The monitor series was one of the best. Don't know what's changed, but this one didn't quite measure up. Looks good, has good weight and construction, but the voice track was muddy and it sounded "boxy" overall. The wife complained she couldn't make out the conversations, so I sent it back. Thanks to Amazon for the prompt refund and will definitely do buisness witht them again.
Summary: I've been looking at center channel speakers for about 6 months before I purchased this one. I have a pair of Bose 301s wall mounted as my fronts, a Logitech 8"sub, and a Bose Accoustimass 5 system for my rear. Now when I watched movies in 5.1 they sounded great, but I felt I had to turn it up too loud just to get the dialog to not feel so far away from me. I needed a center speaker. I was so set on getting a Polk Audio CS1 for $99.
Summary: Although this is a center channel speaker I bought 2 of these and use them for right-left channel in my basement workout room. I use them mounted flat on shelves powered by a 65 watt Onkyo. They are used for TV sound and music. For 100 bucks for the pair, they are a good value. With pretty good sound reproduction for music and very good for TV vocals. A little short on Bass but not too bad. For my use I am well satisfied.
Summary: The home theater center channel is the most important speaker in a home theater setup. This one does a great job of giving nice clear sound - it is easy to understand dialogue, even in a scene with a lot of background noise (like an explosive action scene or a sportscast). It was a definite upgrade from my home theater in a box speaker, which tended to muffle the dialogue when there was a lot of other sound in the scene. At approx $79, it was also a great value.
