Summary: The speakers were used to upgrade and existing office audio system which had long outlived their usefulness. Found the speakers were an easy upgrade and provide good quality for the money. If you are looking for high fidelity, these are not the ones, but how they are being used in the work environment work just fine. Instructions and installation were straightforward. Finished product in ceiling is clean, crisp.
Summary: These are very good sounding low end speakers. I ran them without a sub to see how they would sound. They carried a good mid range base and filled the room exceptionally well. The aimable tweeter makes the highs stand out and their overall appearance is as good as some expensive polk speakers I have in another room. If your budget is low these are the speakers for you!
Pros: With the directional tweeter and simple installation these are great for the price.
Summary: These speakers are excellent for the price. I installed these speakers in a meeting room that had a drop down ceiling and they worked perfectly. The sound was great and even at full volume the sound was clear. I tested the sound with the radio and my iPod and a DVD movie. I am very happy with these speakers. I used a Yamaha RX-V465 receiver for this setup.
Summary: For a basic sound system these are great speakers, (yeah for Insignia) for a demanding listener these are fair. Bought these, listened to them then got the Yamaha NSIW480- 8" speakers instead.
Summary: These sound very good, more so when taking price into account. I installed them in a plasterboard ceiling, being sure to remove any backing paper from the underside of the fiberglass insulation. Other than that, there was no other special treatment in the ceiling cavity. Nice bass response, mid and hi-end just fine as well, and a smooth and "full" sound. The tweeter can be "aimed", which might be a plus in some installations.
Summary: I'm using these as surround speakers for my home theater system and I have them powered by an Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver. I bought them because I was scared to go low-end but didn't want to spend a bundle on speakers that would only be used for surround. I had already wired for surround and the template that comes in the box made installation very easy. The tweeter is aimable which was nice and I had both speakers mounted in under an hour.
Summary: while the size of the speaker is 6 1/2 inches, the drywall cutout is closer to 8 inches (a cutting template is provided. the quality and construction of this speaker is quite solid for the price. the sound quality is good (not great). i chose this pair mainly for the low price as i have installed these in my bathroom and i don't need high quality sound mostly moisture proof. the speaker cone is not paper so i think these will work out well over time.
