Summary: You get what you put in to these speakers. With the wrong gear they are still good but not great. Match them up with the right cables, amp and source, you'll be treated with a true hi-fi speaker. The soundstage and imaging is top notch with a fast and accurate mid-bass. I wouldn't recommend the 918's for electronic or hip-hop unless you have a subwoofer.
Summary: Words cannot express how beautiful these speakers sound. They also look great. Please note that while they excel in highs, and midrange, you would require a quality subwoofer [ my preference is SVS ] to enhance your bass.
Summary: I have owned a clear-oak finished version of these speakers for four years or so. The advanced aluminum/magnesium tweeter used here is fabulous and integrates perfectly with the mid-woofer. Set up correctly you'll get complete transparency, an unimposing tonal balance and great horizontal imaging that goes wider than the speakers are. The images are however not very tall. I find them very engaging for music and great home theater speakers.
