Summary: I tested these against Boston Acoustics satellite speakers that I currently own. Very attractive package, and can really hit the high notes, but somewhat lacking on the low end, even with a subwoofer. My current Boston acoustics may not be quite as sharp on the high end, but definitely better on the low end, and sounded "deeper". Since I use these primarily in the den for movies, I stayed with the BA. If you will be utilizing for music, you may like the Energy.
Summary: I chose this speaker system based on some great reviews from review sites but returned it. Its sound quality was so disappointing both for movies and music. It's not so much different with my gaming PC speakers. I guess this might be one of the best for its price range, which might be the reason of good reviews. But, I decided to spend more money rather than be stucked with just so-so products like this one.
Summary: For their size they have large sound when coupled with a sub but I was quite surprise that right out of the box with no time on them they sounded pretty good, a bit tight. After playing these 30 hours or so they sound even better. They are not mounted yet as I'm waiting until I get at least 60 hours on them and am sure I like the sound.
Great Home Theater Speakers - Have a Good Receiver
28 January 2013
Summary: These speakers really do provide some amazing sound clarity. I spent the whole weekend running 12 gauge speaker cable through the walls, under the floor, etc and mounting these guys. I watched the pro bowl last night and was astonished by the clarity of the sound. You can have the sound very quiet and hear every single detail. The surround is well balanced even if, like me, you need to put the surround speakers on the back wall spread apart rather than on the sides.
Summary: I tried the take rc-micro for a few days before returning them and trying the Take 5. The take 5 has a much fuller sound, as the rc-micro I defimitely missed some oomph in the lower mid or upper-bass range (think somethimg wih a lot of trombones or french horns like lord of the rings). Take 5 are excellent to my untrained ear and small enough to still look unobtrusive.
Summary: Do not think too long on getting these little speakers, They are great. I have a large living room that is open to my dining room. I mounted them to the walls at ear level and they sound fantastic with my Denon receiver. I have compared them to the Quintets and the Energy is better. You get very good highs and a good mid range. The sound is very crisp. You must pair it with a subwoofer such as the Polk Audio PSW110. Works very well with the Energy.
Summary: Before buying these, I had done all of my research, and this system seemed to have the best reviews for their size hands down. I still was not prepared for how amazing they are! I have heard many $1000+ systems that don't compare to these. Positives: -All of the speakers blend together so well. I would have thought otherwise by just looking at them and observing that the sub woofer is the same size as all other speakers put together.
