Summary: Maybe somethings wrong with my sub, but there is little to no bass coming from it. I calibrated the sub and recalibrated it. I switched out the wires and everything. Not sure what else to do! Seems like my receiver is working just fine. The only time I get a little bit of bass is when certain channels and certain shows come on. Possibly a defective set, other than that I just don't know. Center channel is pretty good, as are the surround sound speakers.
Summary: I love this system. I spent DAYS crawling through "various sites" trying to piece together a system filled names like bose, klipsch, pioneer, etc. I had no plan on going with an all-in-one system. I had shopping sites in one browser window and product reviews in another window. As usual, i found that with every technological advance, created was another potential problem or recall or new series such as the 1516 is now the great 1517 only to be outdated 3 months later by...
Summary: Bought this item to replace an outdated 5:1 audio-only system. Purchased an Onkyo AVR first, and then these speakers months later after a crazy amount of research. OMG, we forgot what a difference speakers make! Ran the Onkyo with the old speakers while doing the research. We wanted to keep the sub small enough to hide, and didn't want satellite speakers that we had to place on stands (After owning monster PA speakers in the 70s, and 80s, We got very use to the last...
Summary: this is a greaaaaaat sound system for the price. It took a little research to find this product while having no knowledge of a good sound system before, and i'm so glad i did it. everything is just so lovely. It's easy enough to set up (provided you have the wires and whatnot), and now allows me to just sit in my room (where i have it set up) and melt into my chair as this system serenades me and tells me everything will be okay.
Summary: It has been 8 months since I have installed these speakers. I have compared them with my roommates Bose Lifestyle Speakers. I could not tell the difference. That says a lot as these are about a quarter of the price he paid for the Bose. I am using a Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black) . While I am not happy with that receiver, it still seems to make these speaker sound amazing. For the price I think that they are they best you will find anywhere.
Summary: Swapped out an old Sony system for Energy Take 5.1 Classic Speakers & Onkyo TX-NR609 AVR....added a couple more Klipsch satellites to round out the 7.1 setup, I couldn't be happier. Both movies and Pandora sound better than I ever expected. Sweet highs and solid lows. It's no wonder CNET still backs these with their reviews. You won't be sorry to get these speakers.
Summary: Very good sound for my home theater AND for music. I ditch my old speakers due to poor music performance even though movies sounded good. These can do both well. I did notice a sound from the right channel that sounded like sand pouring on a drum head under certain circumstances. That problem seems to have gone away. FYI... Not sure what to make of that.
