Excerpt: I 'm quite sure that most audiophiles that read this magazine have seen, heard, or at the very least, read a review of a Dynaudio speaker. But many might not know that its first products were the P-Series loudspeakers using outsourced drivers. But within three years Dynaudio created an in-house research and development department to fabricate their own drivers.
Summary: The Dynaudio Focus 110 is an excellent transducer
and easily one of the best minimonitors that I have heard, the only caveat being their
ultimate loudness capability, which in my case -- and perhaps yours -- proved to be more
of an amplifier-matching issue. With their superb low-end extension, these small speakers
would give many similarly priced floorstanders a run for their money.
Excerpt: Massive Attack's Teardrop is as tough a test track as we can think of. It's got a seismic bassline that bludgeons most speakers into submission, and a complex production that interweaves a multitude of sounds to create a hard-hitting and dynamic soundscape.
Pros: Powerful sound, surprising amount of bass authority for little boxes, fine timing, great build and finish
Cons: Bass can be a touch heavy-handed if care isn’t taken with positioning and system-matching
