Summary: It sounds very neutral, clear and present. lets not kid ourselves, how can you judge a single speaker unless you have some measuring tools. So my ear is aware of these in stereo, and I purchased with that in mind. I added this to my 5.1 setup. It is an efficient speaker, so the Infinity Ref series3 are a bit more hungry and have less volume. I am running this with a Marantz SR14ex, so it was simple to adjust the center. This speaker blends well with the others.
Summary: Placed two speakers in wall in pillars next to my 60" wall mounted TV. Extremely easy to install. The plates are magnetic and the appearance is superb. The sound quality is great for in-wall speakers but they can't compete with top of the line towers. I have these paired with a Def Tec sub and center with a built-in sub and two 8 inch Def Tech rears in the ceiling.
Summary: I installed these speakers in our bar/rec room. It is a narrow 10x20 area and I really hoped for a party speaker that could pump out audio power. For this size room the speaker is incredible. It can create very loud and accurate sound. I am very happy and intend to buy another pair for another area of my house. The speakers are an absolute snap to install. They mount to the drywall, nice and flush, look good and are paintable.
Summary: Removed and sold my floor standing speakers , put in a beautiful wood floor, and 5 Definitive Technology speakers in the ceiling. This is my center channel speaker...wow what a room filling sound the Definitive Technology speakers provide. Have not heard one bit of distortion or rattle.....they fill the room with immaculate sound.
Summary: Very nice speakers. I will have to say they probably aren't quite as good as floor standing speakers but for the convenience of not having them on the floor they are still a very nice alternative.
