Summary: I usually don't post comments about products. But this baby is amazing! I highly recommend the 8080 series. I also have the BP-8080ST towers and SR-8080BP surround sound speakers. Definitive Technology advertises that you don't need a stand-alone subwoofer with their 8080 tower. Well, that's an understatement. Best set of speakers I've ever owned, hands down. You would not be disappointed. I am very pleased.
Summary: WOW, no other center channel speaker compares. Makes your sound system incredible!! I compared the 8040 to 8080 and the bass was night and day, makes movies life like. Having 300 watt sub in center channel is magic for the sound system.
Summary: The Def Tech CS-8080HD is very disappointing for as much as it costs and the reviews I read. First the sub-woofer has to be set low or the speaker vibrates on the shelf it is sitting on. If set to a higher volume a loud passage such as an explosion in a movie the speaker distorts.
Pros: Generally good sound overall
Cons: Overpriced, and would not recommend a center channel with a built in sub-woofer, its overkill.
Amazing speaker but be aware of potential warranty issues

Summary: This is an incredible center as many have already noted. My comment is meant as a warning to prospective buyers. That warning is to understand that purchasing through one of the Amazon third-party resellers may cause you to lose the factory warranty if they are not on the authorized list of resellers. I found this out the hard way and had to resort to purchasing a SquareTrade warranty to cover this expensive piece of kit.
The bomb or at least loud enough and realistitc enough to be one!

Summary: I had a four year old CLR2002 as my center. Two Mythos Two speakers for the sides and four Studio Monitor 350s for the surrounds side and back which I bought at Magnolia in 2008. The Definitive Technology C/L/R 2002 Speaker out powered the other speakers. I was thinking the CLR2002 sounded so good why not try Definitive Technology CS-8080HD Powered Subwoofer as a center, buy one more CLR2002 and use those two as front left/right speakers replacing the Mythos Two...
