Best center channel speaker (PERIOD!)

  • Summary: WOW, no other center channel speaker compares. Makes your sound system incredible!! I compared the 8040 to 8080 and the bass was night and day, makes movies life like. Having 300 watt sub in center channel is magic for the sound system.

  • Summary: Happy with my purchase the sound is strong and loud. No complaints sometimes it may sound a little muffled but that might also be my screen infront of it...not sure yet.
  • Pros: Great set with all 8080s
  • Cons: none

The bomb or at least loud enough and realistitc enough to be one!

23 September 2012
  • Summary: I had a four year old CLR2002 as my center. Two Mythos Two speakers for the sides and four Studio Monitor 350s for the surrounds side and back which I bought at Magnolia in 2008. The Definitive Technology C/L/R 2002 Speaker out powered the other speakers. I was thinking the CLR2002 sounded so good why not try Definitive Technology CS-8080HD Powered Subwoofer as a center, buy one more CLR2002 and use those two as front left/right speakers replacing the Mythos Two...

Def Tech CS-8080HD

ChuckG, Crutchfield
29 April 2012
  • Summary: The Def Tech CS-8080HD is very disappointing for as much as it costs and the reviews I read. First the sub-woofer has to be set low or the speaker vibrates on the shelf it is sitting on. If set to a higher volume a loud passage such as an explosion in a movie the speaker distorts.
  • Pros: Generally good sound overall
  • Cons: Overpriced, and would not recommend a center channel with a built in sub-woofer, its overkill.

Nice Center Channel

damonj, Crutchfield
25 April 2012
  • Summary: Purchased this with 8080 fronts and surrounds. Not only is dialog clear, but I now hear substantial bass information coming from center. This is placed on a low profile tempered glass entertainment center. Actually had to remove everything from the same shelf this was on because the bass would rattle everything. Was not expecting that from a center channel. Have had setup since April 2014, satisfied so far.

Very nice

audiyo, Amazon
5 February 2012
  • Summary: When I first plugged it in and turned on a movie I was highly disappointed at the muddy overly bass sound of peoples voices coming out of this speaker. I now have the bass dial turned down to about 30% and now I love this center channel. It made a huge difference in the voice quality and overall sound. I cant imagine anyone having the dial turned up anywhere near the max. The bass is so heavy it actually made the speaker box vibrate on my console.
