Summary: awesome sounding speakers for home theater and straight music listening.. the build in 8 inch sub is tight and fills almost any size room. still a true sub will complete the overall sound. Enjoy listen to music channels even more than watching movies with how full these speakers sound
Excerpt: Feet screws are tight going in, I snapped the head off one and was lucky to remove it with a pair of vice-grips. Used a small drywall screw which worked nicely. After the recommended 40 hour break-in period I cranked them up and MAN!!!! perfection.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output
Summary: I bought the BP-8040STs to replace a set of 30 year old Polks. A major factor in the decision was the built in powered sub. I am quite impressed and pleased with the way these deliver clean, solid bass and retain crystal clarity of strings, harps, flutes, etc.
Pros: Clear, solid bass that doesn't overpower the mids and highs.
Summary: Great speakers. These speakers really compliments Def Tech promonitor 600 satellite speakers along with the Def Tech ProSub 800. I got these at a really good price. I would recommend these speakers over all others: especially for the price.
Summary: When I saw the sale price on these, I grabbed a pair to replace some 30-year-old B&W's and an equally aged Velodyne sub. Couldn't be happier with the sound - the mid-range and highs are clean and accurate, with no trace of harshness. The bass is fine for music listening.
Pros: Very smooth, room-filling sound, good imaging, plenty of bass for music listening.
Cons: The stablizer feet should be factory-installed. SInking the screws that hold them on takes quite a bit of muscle.
Summary: Let me preface this review by clearly stating these speakers sound very well. The mid and high output is very clear and warm sounding. However, the bass, in my opinion, is lacking when considering the price of these speakers. I wouldn't consider myself a very critical audiophile, but an avid one.
Pros: Mids and highs. Sleek design.
Cons: Bass lacking. Seems hollow. Top, plastic cover design seems subpar for a speaker this price...seems to just rest on top of the speaker, doesn't really attach like I think it should.
Excerpt: I have been looking for a great set of speakers since my old Technics finally gave out on me. I was told that Abt had excellent variety of speakers and great service so I stopped in and Sean in audio listened to what I was looking for and he introduced me to these babies.
Pros: Attractive Design, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality
Summary: I would have given these a 5 star rating except one of the speakers I got was a scratch and dent. When I got them and hooked them up the discounted speaker was obviously not working correctly. Crutchfield made it right and sent me another one, I just had to wait a week to get it in.
