Mostly Great (Screws are garbage)

Summary: My original plan was to get rid of my 12 inch polk sub after getting these. Though I think I am going to keep it now, just to keep the earth shaking bass. Most people probably will not need a sub with these, but since I already have one, and selling it will get me half what I paid... And now the screws... On the first speaker, I broke the heads off of 4 out of the 8 feet screws.
Pros: Compact, amazing sound, great bass.
Cons: Kinda hard to explain, but bass sounds great, but doesnt "feel" great. Kindof a hollow bass. Most people probably wouldn't notice though. Included screws for mounting the feet are garbage. DO NOT EVEN TRY TO USE THEM. Trust me.
Summary: You get what you pay for. Before I bought the BP8040st tower speakers I had 2 Polk Tsi300 towers and a polk center, with 2 polk tsi100 up back and a Klipsch sub 8 being powered by my Yamaha 373 receiver pushing 100 watts per channel.. I liked the set up but did not love the set up. The sound was lacking mid range punch and crystal clear sound.
Summary: Just got a pair of 8040-ST and I am loving listening to music and watching movies and TV shows. The Bi-Polar technology works like a charm. When watching movies, even without a center channel, it appears that sounds comes through this non-existing channel. I have it hooked up to Pioneer VSX-1020 receiver, the setup was quick and love the fact that each sub-woofer has it own controls. I used to have a Bose AM-6, hooked up to Pioneer VSX-1020.
Excerpt: I have been looking for a great set of speakers since my old Technics finally gave out on me. I was told that Abt had excellent variety of speakers and great service so I stopped in and Sean in audio listened to what I was looking for and he introduced me to these babies. Upon first listen I was floored! The sound was crystal clear and the bass was amazing! I bought them on the spot and I am not disappointed.
Pros: Attractive Design, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality
Summary: I was planning on getting cube speakers and a subwoofer, but I had to listen to the difference these speakers were at Best buy. The sound was incredibly smooth. But that is what a store is for. I waited for the delivery. The peakers arrived in in well protected boxes. the 4 external legs are needed for stability. Easy to assemble. Machine drilled and matched. Plugged the power source in attached the cables to the stereo and Vaboom.
Summary: Have had some time to live with these speakers in my family room / media room. Adjusting them took some effort. Recommend following the advice to toe them in. The bass balance was the most difficult accomplishment. Not the speakers fault. It's my room. Like most family rooms in modern homes it is open to the kitchen on one side and this made balancing the bass tricky. BP recommends that you not use your HT receivers auto calibration function to setup the speakers.
Summary: heres a short review . ive had many speakers in my life . paradigms polk jamo and so on. these are by far the best speakers ive owned to date. the mids highs and bass are great. i watch 50 percent movies and 50 percent music. heres my set up. yamaha rx-a 2020 . 8040s for the fronts an 8040 for the center and rears. 52 sony . bdp-bx59 player. sony cxx 355 300 disc player. sony dvd and vcr player recorder. ps2. x-box 360.wii-u . and a reguler wii.
Summary: I did a lot of research before I bought these speakers. The only complaint I have is you need a strong person to screw part of the feet of the system. Tinkered with base setting and recalibrated my Yamaha receiver. Listened to Adele mp3 and was taken aback on one acoustic set you could here the strings on the guitar playing the notes the depth was unbelievable. I can only use the word presence.
Summary: Excellent sound, especially for movie/surround. Don't get me wrong, these are great for audio only too, but the surround is awesome (I have them couped with 8040 center and 8040 surround speakers). Built in subs in each tower conserve floor space too. Replaced an old Cambridge Soundworks system, and there is no comparison to how good these are. Crutcfiled advisors, sales and technical folks are terrific.
Pros: Excellent Sound, subs are spot on and can be adjusted to your desired level.
Cons: A bit pricey, but more than worth the extra $ in quality and performance.
Summary: A note about quality speakers: I have "cheapo" speakers for the rest of my system, and intend to fill out the rest as i can budget it like many people. But at least i have something i am happy with that i can build on and will keep for many years. Swapping out speakers for home theater usage has some implications: it is best to match speakers at least by brand.
Pros: Sound Quality: the speaker produces a really natural sound. It really is difficult to tell that it is coming form a speaker when placed properly. The sounds are accurate too. Not overly bright or mechanical and you don't miss parts of the natural sound. Having moved from a more classical view of speakers i had to get past "driver" size as being important; Apparently it isn't so forget it :) I have cheaper speakers with much larger drivers and much smaller sound. Cons: Here's the problem. Look at the sale prices on speakers in general. The markup is massive. No matter how much technology goes into these they are marked up more than anything else probably in your entertainment center which often goes for all speakers. Having to pay north of 700 for a speaker clearly won't work for most people, nor in my opinion should it. They need to put these on a sale for it to make sense no matter how good they are. But they probably aren't targe...
