What a speaker should be!!!!!!!

Summary: You get what you pay for. Before I bought the BP8040st tower speakers I had 2 Polk Tsi300 towers and a polk center, with 2 polk tsi100 up back and a Klipsch sub 8 being powered by my Yamaha 373 receiver pushing 100 watts per channel.. I liked the set up but did not love the set up. The sound was lacking mid range punch and crystal clear sound.
Summary: Just got a pair of 8040-ST and I am loving listening to music and watching movies and TV shows. The Bi-Polar technology works like a charm. When watching movies, even without a center channel, it appears that sounds comes through this non-existing channel. I have it hooked up to Pioneer VSX-1020 receiver, the setup was quick and love the fact that each sub-woofer has it own controls. I used to have a Bose AM-6, hooked up to Pioneer VSX-1020.
Summary: heres a short review . ive had many speakers in my life . paradigms polk jamo and so on. these are by far the best speakers ive owned to date. the mids highs and bass are great. i watch 50 percent movies and 50 percent music. heres my set up. yamaha rx-a 2020 . 8040s for the fronts an 8040 for the center and rears. 52 sony . bdp-bx59 player. sony cxx 355 300 disc player. sony dvd and vcr player recorder. ps2. x-box 360.wii-u . and a reguler wii.
Summary: Excellent sound, especially for movie/surround. Don't get me wrong, these are great for audio only too, but the surround is awesome (I have them couped with 8040 center and 8040 surround speakers). Built in subs in each tower conserve floor space too. Replaced an old Cambridge Soundworks system, and there is no comparison to how good these are. Crutcfiled advisors, sales and technical folks are terrific.
Pros: Excellent Sound, subs are spot on and can be adjusted to your desired level.
Cons: A bit pricey, but more than worth the extra $ in quality and performance.
Summary: At first I wasn't sure about the sub-woofer performance with the tower speakers' width being so small, but once I have 2 of these set up and ready to go, all doubts are erased. Best integration of low level sounds to the other sound ranges I've ever heard. I would not call myself an audiophile, but I have heard enough sound systems to know that these are a cut above.
Summary: These replaced a 10 year old pair of Klipsch towers. Moving the sub into my sons room makes for a better presentation in the living room. Using the Audessy mike left me with only adjusting the level of sub enhancement. I knew that the Klipsch horns were more efficient but the horns have a better detail on the highs. These speakers are very smooth otherwise and my son was surprised at the authority they possessed while watching Red Tails.
Pros: No external sub needed, balanced sound from a very slim speaker, strong dialogue performance, dual subs may disturb neighbors if in apartment.
Cons: High end could possess a slightly more detailed sound.
Summary: The sound is amazing clear, Definitive Technology speakers are my favorate now. Also, Crutchfield is the best online shopping site for electronics, the service is awesome. It makes me won't go to Best Buy anymore.
Summary: Great speakers. The sound coming out these speakers, and without a separate subwoofer is something you will need to experience yourself. I can write a book trying to convince you, but reality is...you need to have a PAIR to believe.
Summary: I was able to get permission from my wife for the speaker upgrade and couldn't be happier. The BP8040ST were a nice size choice and work in my smaller room. I previously listened to the BP8060's, but decided they were too much for my 11x15 room. At loud volumes, they can approach the feeling and sound of a live concert. Wife was impressed. Having powered subwoofer in each speaker seems to make the sound more realistic and less boomy than the subwoofer I replaced.
Pros: Realistic sound. Dual bass is cleaner.
Cons: Expensive for me, but expect this to be a 10 year speaker.
