Summary: Before ordering I read as many reviews as I could find for the S30's. Practically all of the reviews were positive. More than positive. Some reviewers seemed to drool over these speakers. My pair arrived yesterday and the first thing I noticed was that running through the dark oak finish on one speaker were these thick whitish wavy lines. A defect in the finish. I also noticed a seem on the bottom of both speakers where the dark oak vinyl covering met.
Summary: i have used them with computer, on stands as part of a 2/1 system and for t.v. watching. for the price they have exceptionally nice detail and are very easy to listen to and bit on the warm side which i personally enjoy. comparing them to other speakers, my axiom m 22's (for example) seem to have a veil over the vocals compared to s 30's but the axioms are clearer and larger.....and cost over twice as much.
Summary: Amazing little bookshelf speakers. Neutral, punchy, warm, and wife friendly. What sets them apart from other inexpensive high fidelity speakers is their ability to represent all forms of music. Typically speakers in this price range only sound good for one genre like pop, rock, jazz, or classical, so a buyer picks according to his musical tastes. This is not the case with S30's. They have consistent sound for all genres.
These are literally the best speakers I have ever heard.

Summary: Now, I am not a professional audiophile with a virtually unlimited budget, so it may be best to take my review with a grain of salt. To be more descriptive, the previous "best speakers I have ever heard" would be the front L/R and center channels my dad's home theater setup, which are MKs of varying ages (center is from the early 90s, L/Rs are from the late 80s). To my ears, the Cambridge S30s portray music with a more pleasing tone than the aforementioned setup.
Summary: These speakers have a lovely musical sound and are a very good value for the price. They do not suffer the typical flaws of inexpensive speakers, such as shrill treble or boomy, one note bass. I got the dark wood grain model and it is very attractive. I bought them based on several glowing reviews from trustworthy sources (e.g. whathifi out of England) and the reviews strike me as spot on.
Summary: These speakers are really good value and sound good. The thing I like about them for the bedroom is the the treble is entirely in control, no piercing, shrill sounds like so many cheap speakers. These don't stand up next to my trusty Vandersteens in my listening room, but they definitely give hi-fidelity sound for a budget (without artificial bass boost, etc.). I have them bi-wired from my Integra 4-zone amp.
Summary: I bought these to replace my Bose Companion III multimedia speakers. Even with a bass module, the Bose satellites always sounded thin and tinny to me. The sound of the Cambridge Audio S30s was great right out of the box. After breaking them in for a couple weeks, the sound is outstanding. Nice full bass response, crisp, tight midrange, pleasant highs, great imaging and clarity. All around a great speaker.
Summary: I am a long time audiophile with critical ear and expensive audio music system. HOWEVER, I purchased these speakers - Cambridge S30 - for a simple home 2-speaker + subwoofer home theater. For that application, the S30 is working out extremely well. I use a Marantz AV receiver to power them and modest Monster-level speaker cable and interconnects. The dark wood on these speakers is very beautiful and blends in with the remainder of the dark wood in my living room.
Outstanding sound quality in a compact attractive package

Summary: I am extremely satisfied with my S30 speakers. I have multiple sets of Yamaha NS-670s and various POLK Audio speakers, including Rt55i's and M20s, and the Cambridge units bring a new level of listening pleasure. Bass from the single small (6") woofer is not as deep as a larger unit - but is more satisfying than the single POLK unit of comparable size ( M20 ), while the midrange, treble, and overall smoothness of the response is outstanding.
