I felt this unit should have had matching cables (white cable(s) for a white unit) and perhaps a better power design (no brick)
7 August 2014
Summary: Initial impressions: Straightforward set-up via my Mac (running an Airport Express to connect, plus an iPhone as an additional source). Was listening within minutes of unpacking. Lacks the bass punch of say, a Sonos, but has expected and acceptable mids/highs for a modest, non-audiophile unit.
Summary: -The sound easily fills my kitchen. It sounds a lot bigger than its footprint. -The web interface to set it up is a bit "dated" and probably more confusing than it needs to be. -AirPlay is really convenient. Windows/Mac computers with iTunes, iPad, iPhone can all stream audio to the speaker wirelessly. A very easy way to play music throughout your house without wires. -I find that the speaker needs to be closer to my wireless router than I would expect.
Summary: Speaker quality is good but the power supply stopped working properly after a couple of days. I cannot even find one to replace it. I called Boston Accoustics and they don't have the power supply in their inventory. Very frustrating.
Summary: Not only does this unit have incredible sound, but the seller went out of their way to accommodate a little snafu: the unit had been sent with a European power plug. The seller ended up giving me a partial refund, at my request, which allowed me to purchase a US plug online.
Summary: I love being able to control my music and volume from my computer, tablet, or phone. So convenient. And I can do it from anywhere in the house! The process of setting up the devices is a bit painful, but you only do it once, and the instructions are good, albeit comlex. I did move and had to use a different modem briefly and set it up with the temporary modem; then when I switched back to my usual modem I had to set it up again. But it works great.
Summary: I enjoyed using these speakers initially. The sound is adequate for my requirements, but the audio stream consistently drops off after using for an hour or two. I have tried to update the firmware (as mentioned in the documentation, but the website has no downloads available. When contacted customer service, they offered no solution and never called back as promised.
Summary: This is a little bookshelf speaker with a big, clear sound. No EQ controls but it seems very well balanced to me. It took literally minutes to set up, and it works seamlessly with Airplay from my iPhone (as long as my phone has sufficient battery charge, otherwise I get some dropouts and distortion). As far as volume, it's plenty for my needs, loud enough that my wife usually asks me to turn it down.
