I think I was shipped someone else's returned model --- flawed, going to return.

  • Summary: I just got this today, and immediately set it up. Overall, I like it --- I'm no audiophile but the sound is certainly good enough for me. BUT, I'll most likely be returning it ASAP, because with it plugged in and the power switch turned to "on" but with the system turned "off" (TV off, speaker system off), there's a low volume somewhat high pitched whining that comes from the subwoofer unit that just never goes away.

  • Summary: 1 i have a lg smart tv and remote don't work with this sound system after try to pair with unit for hours belive me i tried every thing even call the boston acoustic and they said it's not unit problem it's compatibilty problem with lg remote 2 this unit has no sound on movie containd DTS if i switch to tv speaker it works and they said it encording issue not unit as a customer its all excause.

beware- unit died just outside of return period, and seller shipped reburbished unit sold as new

  • Summary: Beware: HIDEF LIFESTYLE shipped this unit, which was listed as NEW, but came with a Factory Refurbished sticker on it. I decided that the value was still good at $159, so kept the unit. The sound quality was great for such a small soundsystem, so I was very happy. Then, 35 days after my purchase (JUST outside Amazon's 30 day return window--convenient!) the unit completely died.

  • Summary: Went completely dead 35 days after purchase--Conveniently 5 days outside of the return window. Sound quality was good, but would definitely not buy a BA product again after this experience. For an item like this, the cost to ship for warranty replacement is about a third the price of the original item. So I'm very dissatisfied with this product, despite the fact that the sound quality was great when it worked.

Sound issues and defective remote receiver.

  • Summary: The Boston Acoustics SoundWare XS is my first foray into a 2.1 sound system. Not having the space for a 5.1, I decided to give it a try based on positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was far less than positive. After getting everything set up, my first though was, it is nice system, with good sound. However, shortly thereafter the problems started.

Defective out of the box and you only get one day for return it!

  • Summary: One of the speakers did not have one of the speaker wire holes drilled out so I could not put both speaker wires on. This is a really obvious manufacturing defect. So I could not even try the speakers. Then when i went to do the return it said I had one day to return it! What? Never seen that on Amazon before. I was a little lerry of buying this anyway as a lot of people seemed be having quality control issues and now I see why.

the subwoofer makes hissing noise even without cable connected

  • Summary: The hissing sound is very annoying no mattering the unit is on or off unless you unplug it from the outlet. The customer service is not helpful too. I am sending out for repair (I need to pay shipping fee) to see whether it can be fixed.

  • Summary: expected better from Boston Acoustics.. have a 2.1 Denon for years.. thought it was time to upgrade.. very disappointing.. my 6 year old Denon sound quality was much better .. remote came with an almost dead battery as well.

Terrible speaker system. The subwoofer sometimes turns on, sometimes turns on late, and sometimes doesn't work at all.

  • Summary: Horrible product and customer service. Often, the subwoofer needs a few seconds or minutes to turn on, after the music has started playing. Sometimes, the subwoofer decides not to turn on at all. I need to power the subwoofer off, and then on, to get it to work properly. I have tried (unsuccessfully) for several months to get Boston Acoustics to replace this clearly defective product.

  • Summary: I contemplated on getting this because $540 for speakers is a lot of investment but I've tested it at Best Buy and just fell in love that I just had to have it. About couple months after the purchase it wouldn't work on occasion. Even the Bluetooth function from my iPhone doesn't work. I bought it in January. Not that it's been 4 months the frequency of malfunction occurs more often. It's really frustrating.
