Summary: I use these with an Energy powered subwoofer that includes a speaker level high pass filter, so I have no comment on bass performance. Further, I live in a condo, so extreme volumes are not possible.
BA delivers again with this true and full-sounding speaker
6 September 2014
Summary: I've always loved BA speakers. I hadn't purchased any in a while, and my biggest concern in purchasing these was the low-end. Obviously music and entertainment of today uses lower frequencies far more than 15-20 years ago.
Summary: These are not high end speakers but they produce good sound quality when used in a balanced set of surround speakers. I believe that a good ($300) center channel speaker and properly adjusted sub-woofer make the difference. I do not think you will find a better value in floor mounted speakers.
Summary: A pair of these speakers produce clear mid-range, a splendid bass drum, and are very good for piano/cello works as well as small ensembles. Their ability to handle a full orchestra is less convincing: the violin section in particular suffers an identity loss.
Summary: I have always liked Boston speakers. I have them in my car and my home and, incidentaly, they merry up very nicely with polk speakers as well. The Polks give good low end and the Bostons give tight mid and high end.
