Summary: These Boston VR1 loudspeaker are an incredible value. I bought mine new on amazon for 119.99 each. I just happened to look at the right time. I think Boston's combination of incredible tweeters and highly efficient small woofers give Boston their trademark sound.
Summary: Overall the BA VR1's perform well, but plan on using a sub. I'd agree that there is a "hole" in the mid-frequencies. I would rate the BA VR1's as good, not great. Now the bad part, I ordered two pair of these speakers from two different vendors, and all were received damaged.
Summary: Good speaker for $120. A nice speaker for a home theater set up in a small space. Attractive understated design. The speaker is efficient (hi impedance) which means that it will play louder at a given volume setting. So far the sound is a tad bright, but is good at bringing audio dialog forward.
Summary: It's August "11 and I see these speakers are on sale. I've had a set for two years and they are the best sounding speakers I have owned. I replaced a very expensive pair of Mirage speakers with these and they sound much, much better.
Summary: What a great deal, I went to several Audio shops and demoed allot of speakers. I have yet to hear anything comparable to these with out spending 3 times as much money! Even then its minimal difference. Also dealing with Amazon has been great there customer service is top notch!
Summary: I've had my Boston floorstanding speakers for about 5 years. I have listened to most all the high-end brands of speakers and these offer the best value of any model or brand. Although technology seems to change year-end and year-out, I keep going back to these speakers which give better overall...
Summary: I bought these in early '08 for $300/pr. I have the cherry finish which is beautiful. These are really great sounding speakers. They were slightly harsh at first but calmed down nicely. Bass response is very good and these can be used without a sub.
