MCS100 - Good basic sub
13 September 2010
Summary: Like - price/performance Dislike - lack of input/output options Overall I am very pleased with the MCS100. Decent bottom end but as with any sub, careful experimenting with placement and crossover frequency is in order. On the dislikes, the sub lacks a speaker level input and a high pass output. No big deal unless you want to connect to a stereo without a sub output.
Summary: I have found these speakers to be, hands down, the best quality speakers I've ever owned. Their size belies their performance. And this is coming from a 59 yr. old post hippie band roady. Their weight impressed me when unpacking them. I use these with my home theater sound system and have come to the conclusion that they enhance the experience much MORE than the new HD TV we bought. I still can't believe how they fill the room with a clarity I was totally unprepared for.
Summary: As the title suggests the speakers sound excellant, the bass does need tweaking though. I've tried pretty much everything and it just sounds very flat. I have a carpeted living room and that may be the problem. If you have a carpeted living room I recommend a front firing sub like the HPS-10 or larger. I like bass, I'm not gonna lie, if this isn't as important to you then this sub may be fine.
Summary: this is an excellant system for movies, both action and "chick flics". the sub fills the room with good clean low end and the sattellites do a great job with the surround. overall, fantastic clean sound.( esp. for the price !
