Summary: I have had a pair of these speakers for a few years, but suddenly, one of them developed a rattle that could have been either a loose wire or a problem with the cone. With no way to remove the grill cover to investigate I was faced with either finding a service center for repair or just replacing the speaker outright. Since I had originally purchased them new for less than $200 for the pair, I figured a repair would cost about as much as the speaker, itself.
Summary: I use these HS50's as my rears in combination with my other Boston Acoustics (BA) Horizon Series pieces -HS255 center (big loud clear dialogue delivery) and HS450's as fronts (simply awesome). My sub is the Mirage Omni S8 (which is a real gem folks). All pieces are connected to a Marantz SR5003. I don't know if it is the Marantz or the BA Horizon Series (probably both), but the sound is very clear and there no limits regarding how loud you wanna get..
Summary: We recieved the first of two speakers and later found out Amazon could not get the second speaker...it was no longer available from the supplier. We called Amazon and they emailed shipping documents to return the one speaker we received. We appreciated the way Amazon handled the situation.
Summary: These speakers sound great which is not surprising because boston acoustics makes them. They need a long baking period around 30hrs before they begin sounding their best. They are not the best looking speakers but the quality is there, plus the price can not be beat at around $50 per at amazon, it's a great get. I will give it 5 stars because of the price and sound.
