Summary: Hello once again I repost my review since I upgraded my audio system I used to own Rotel RA 980 BX 2X100W Intergraded Amplifier and now my system consists: Turntable Thorens TD 166 MK VI DVD Rotel RDV 1045 Tuner Rotel RT 1080 Pre Amp Rotel RC 1082 Power Amp Rotel RB 1080 Power Conditioner Rotel RLC 1040 BOSE 901 VI HDTV Panasonic TH-42PZ77U Monster Cable Interconnects Monster Cable M1.2 Speaker Cable The sound on BOSE 901 VI has dramatically changed.
Summary: This is one of the best speakers on the market. (for it's price) It is incredible what these speakers can do. The trick is knowing how to calibrate and position the speakers properly. A nice amp. will also be helpful. Accoustic is amazing. Overall, very nice sounding speakers for music lovers.
Summary: Bose 901 Series IV Direct Reflection Loudspeaker. Perhaps the most successful, and prolific loudspeaker design ever produced. The 901 represents the career work of Dr Amar G. Bose Phd and contains some of the most innovative and clever out of the box thinking of any product of its type ever manufactured, presently available today.
Summary: Amar Bose created this maverick design in 1968, and to this day, it stands as one of the finest loudspeaker systems for the home. If you love music, and don't want to get on the audiophile merry-go-round, make the 901 your choice.
Summary: i just came across a pair of very old 901s. no eqalizer. lifted a corner of the grill cover with a butter knife to check the foam surrouds,,, perfect looked up the owners manual on the bose website to see what the eqalizer thing was all about. too much taboo for me. so,, what i did was to hook these 2 nice walnut cabinet speakers up to my surround left & right channels. pretty cool with my vintage jbl l00s for mains.
Summary: I owned a pair of 901s in the early 80s, they are excellent speakers in term of dynamics and their ability to fill a room with sound. Back then I used Phase Linear equipment to drive them. Phase Linear was designed by Bob Carver and were considered entry level high end at the time. Paired up with the 901s they produce some of my best memories of music. As I grew older and purchased a home with an open floor plan their limitations started to become more apparent.
Summary: After reading some of these reviews I have to put my three cents in being a long time Bose owner. I first bought my 901s series IV in 1982 at anover seas Exchange for under $ 800 new, which I power with some Marantz Esotec amps which put out about 150 rms. I still have that system to this very day.(yes I gone through the re- foaming routine) I think I payed $20 for the refoam kit back in the early nintys and it took about 8 hours.
Summary: Bose 901 VI have been on the market for quite some time know. We read good and bad reviews. But I guess it's a question of many aspects that influence in every each individual opinion. These speakers are very boomy. Of course if you go to a jazz concert and listen to the digital drums. The moment that they step on the boom, you can feel it. Same with Bose 901. You can feel the music. Especially if you are running 250 watts RMS. The equalizer should be upgraded.
