Sound as great as they look!

Geoffrey T., Newegg
14 August 2014
  • Pros: The speakers have big, crystal clear sound! I'm using them as my front left and right in a 5.1 home theater system pushed by a 110 watt per channel Onkyo AV receiver. They sound far better than I expected! The are wall mounted and reflect sound from the back of the speaker off of neighboring wall...
  • Cons: Only thing I can think of is their size. However acoustically, they sound much more full than the jewel cube speakers.

  • Summary: When I'm hosting a party - trust me these speakers are working !! You can push 301 speakers in a house party and the sound is great. Your walls will feel it !! Placement is key because this is how these speakers were designed to operate. The best thing about bookshelves - they take up minimal space...

  • Summary: Many high brow audiophiles turn up their nose at Bose speakers. They like to quote specs, complain that Bose speakers are lacking in brilliance, tonal quality and, "the sound color in the speakers". To the non-audiophile, sound color is BAD.

  • Summary: Ahhhh the much maligned Bose 301 speakers, I can honestly say that I have always been happy with mine. I purchased my first set in late 1978 they had just been released and after hearing them fell in love with them and their warm all rounded sound.

  • Summary: I can do nothing but jerk off and splatter goo all over the walls every time I hear these speakers! I almost dropped my Schlitz malt liquor on my lap, WOW! I came like BARBARO! What a splattering. You must own these speakers! My girlfriend rubbed herself to ecstacy ALL NIGHT as well!

  • Summary: This is hard to describe product! As a long term audition addictive, thes small, poor-looking speakers shocked me in many respects. All negative comments to do with mis-placing or some other technical reasons within your system.

Have no regets with 301's

Gary S., Newegg
12 March 2009
  • Summary: The sideways and rear firing tweeters seem to make these superb for rear channel use. I have mine at an angle, and the effects on some movies are just unreal. If you own the dvd Toy-Story2, view the part where the large concrete pipe falls from a semi-trailer, and rolls across the pavement.
  • Pros: If you have two or four of these, and a high quality center channel, you will never ever need a sub-woofer; powered or not. I use these as my rears, with a good center channel, and high quality monitors as my fronts. I have yet to be impressed with any other pro-logic set up that I have heard. Of...
  • Cons: These, like most Bose products today, are sadly made in Mexico. Nothing like another USA success story being outsourced (with our collective future) down the river. I beleive Bose was started by a single MIT engineer.
