Summary: These are awesome speakers. Hooked them up to a cheap amp and they made it sound like I was in the middle of a concert. Base and treble are amazing. Can't wait to make them 6 and 7 of my 7.2 system.
Excerpt: I have the Bose Accoustimass 5.1 for the side surrounds, so when I upgraded my receiver to a 7.1, I decided to go with the Bose 161 for the rear to keep everything Bose. I mounted them to the walls high up in the rear of my living room and WOW, the room really comes alive! I dinged 1 star because these are bigger than I thought they were going to be, almost loaf of bread size.
Pros: Easy to Mount, Easy To Set Up, Great Sound Quality
great for home theater but not as stand-alone speakers

Summary: Nice sounding speakers. Easy to install the included mounting brackets. Sleek design. Using for rear channel surround for home theater. Do not recommend as stand alone speakers... much more suited for inclusion in a surround sound setting. Lack of deep tones would not provide holistic sounding audio if used alone.
Summary: I bought these based on my current Bose inventory... I've got tons of Bose stuff: Sounddock, blue tooth portable, Acoustimass 15s, on and on, and I've never been disappointed until these speakers. They sounded horrible, and the problem was lack of a woofer, which maybe I should've known, but I've never had to make sure any Bose products had a woofer, they always just sounded great.
Summary: These sound well when combined , we got them for zoning multiple rooms, they work very well. The white version bends in nicely. The size is great too, big enough for a better sound, but smaller than bookshelf speakers....
