Excellent quality and sound - i think best speakers in this category.

  • Summary: Bought these for my office as an upgrade to the a set of Bose Companion 20 playing music from my pc - definitely like the upgrade. The Bose we pretty decent but the A5+ are even better - more musical and lot more base. One advantage the Bose has though, was able to get nice rich sounds at very low volumes with the speakers just 14" from me - i had to move the A5+ a bit further out (maybe 2 ft) and crack the volume a bit loader.

Don't think, Just Buy

  • Excerpt: Don't think any more. You will love these speakers. Thats the bottom line. I was wondering if I should get the a2 or the a5 and I couldn't be happier with the a5. These are also great because you can upgrade in the future with the addition of the subwoofer and the audio dac. Also, I got the stands with these. Audioengine should include the stands in there packaging as a standard accessory. The speakers will sounds much much better with the stands.
  • Pros: Attractive Design, Easy to Mount, Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality

  • Excerpt: Purchasing a new iMac meant having to upgrade my ancient Dell computer speakers so music listening could be appreciated. There are many options out there, for sure; but I am coming from a listening experience that left nothing to chance, I needed something that was "fulfilling." These certainly meet that need. I LOVE that you can tailor your sound with the crossover option with the bass unit.
  • Pros: Attractive Design, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality, Impreessive, Impressive
  • Cons: Heavy / Bulky

  • Excerpt: It the sound is great. The built quality is superb, I got them in glossy white and they look amazing. Love the fact that speaker wire is used to connect the two speakers, a nice touch from audioengine. The prize is a little high for computer speakers, but the sound quality that you get out of them makes it worth it.

Simply Awesome for WMC!

  • Summary: I should have gotten these a long time ago for my expensive self custom built desktop computer! I enjoy running Windows Media Center (WMC) going to sleep now (love playing my RUSH collection!). Being able to play MY music at the volume I want. For years I was using Creative Labs GigaWorks T20 Series II 2.0 Multimedia Speaker System (or lower)...ya, they're okay speakers. Being okay, I used WMC...sometimes. With Audioengine A5+ speakers now...all the time!
  • Pros: Self-powered; awesome sound at high levels; perfect bass (no subwoofer needed); remote control; ship very well protected (packaged - two boxes); I love my RUSH ripped CD collection again!
  • Cons: Absolutely none for me...but for some maybe: No protective grills (may be an issue if kids have finger access), but this is not for me; cost may be for some, but you really get what you pay for IMO so not a con for me.

  • Summary: What can I say that will sum up how amazing these speakers are. From the moment you unpackage them to see them wrapped in the microfiber drawstring bag to the outstanding build quality of the speakers and all included components,Outstanding just scratches the surface.Hook up was easy and from the moment they were turned on I knew I had purchased the right speakers for me.I have no idea why they have a sub output on the back, you will never need it, they have more than...

  • Summary: Bought a pair to build a simple system for my old records. Paired them with a Project Debut Carbon USB and I don't thing I'm ever going back to a passive speaker / amp combo. The simplicity and clarity of the sound was exactly what I was looking for. I recommend you buy a pair of good stands and upgrade the speaker cable if you are planing on using as main speakers.
  • Pros: Great soundstage and clarity, remote, design
  • Cons: No grilles. No input selector.
