Audioengine A5+ As Advertised

fifthswitch, Crutchfield
12 September 2015
 • Summary: At this point anyone reading a review for the A5+ has a fair idea as to their reputation, and for the most part it lives up to it. These speakers pack a fairly steady punch. They are simple in design, but not in any way a fault, and their sound can handle even the most dynamic film or game...
 • Pros: Simple Design Power Save/Sleep Mode Remote Mid-to-Low End Sound Handles Dynamic Sounds Easily Packs Power Price Extremely Easy Setup
 • Cons: Not as clear highs as I would have liked, but this is very subjective. Book Shelf (duh) Size, so bigger than I'm use to, but again, subjective.

Great Studio Speaker

AlexV, Crutchfield
7 June 2015
 • Summary: Great sounding set of speakers. Like other's have said, they have a fairly flat response, but that's what I'm looking for. The only reason a star is lost is that due to the powered nature of these speakers, the left and right can't be switched.
 • Pros: Sounds exactly as described by other reviewers...flat response.
 • Cons: Need a separate adapter to switch left and right channels.

Incredible

 • Excerpt: These speakers are amazing! The bamboo finish makes them look so incredible, I'm really glad I spent the extra dollars to get this finish. The sound on the A5+'s is out of this world.
 • Pros: Attractive Design, Easy to Mount, Easy To Set Up, Great Sound Quality
 • Cons: Large, Weak Bass

Beautiful speakers. A bit pricey

AsterF, Crutchfield
6 October 2014
 • Summary: I've had about a month or so with the pair. Previously, I'm more of a headphone guy. Although it is designed for near field listening, the pair is loud enough to make my whole studio room dance. A bit too big on the desk to use with the computer but I can live with that.
 • Pros: Nice build quality. Good sound.
 • Cons: Pricey

Better than expected

Anonymous, Crutchfield
2 October 2014
 • Summary: They call these "computer" or "desktop" speakers. They're audiophile-quality speakers with excellent tonality, surprising power and bass and beautiful bamboo cases.

My hi-fi now consists exclusively of a WD My Cloud NAS (3 TB) with ALAC and FLAC recordings, my A5+ speakers, an AirPort...
 • Cons: Bass is surprisingly good from the 5" driver, Bottom end ceases at 50Hz, so a subwoofer is needed for the lowest lows. Power switch is in awkward place. USB is charger only vs charger and audio. Would like sleep function to wake from signal.

A5+

CWB, Crutchfield
23 May 2014
 • Summary: I purchased these as an upgrade for a computer used specifically for listening and recording music. The music quality is superb. I was under the impression that I would also purchase the sub, but I am not so sure I need it, as the bass from these is more than I imagined it would be.
 • Pros: clean beautiful speakers, sound quality, usb port, remote
 • Cons: nonmatching finish of bamboo

11 May 2014
 • Summary: Audioengine A5+ is a pair of very good desktop speakers. It may lack some high-frequency detail and delicacy, but offered outstanding bass control and transparency.
 • Pros: - overall sound qualities are very good. - has a built in 50Wpc dual class-AB monolithic amplifier. - price is reasonable.
 • Cons: - none.

Good Office Spkrs

Duditude, Crutchfield
24 December 2013
 • Summary: Put these in the home office, nice set, no need for an amp, plenty of power for an office.
 • Pros: Small, plenty of power, w/o separate amp, look nice on office bookshelf.
 • Cons: Expensive, esp when paired w/D1 DAC. Probably a less expensive comparable solution out there but I didn't look too hard.
