Great sound from a small package

Summary: These are really exceptional speakers. I've had them for a year now and I really enjoy their clarity and power. I listen to mostly classical music and I think the dynamic range of the music is very well reproduced. My only criticism is that they are not really well shielded. I have my internet router on my desk along with the speakers and I sometimes hear a hum if I position them too near it. But, my set up is probably not optimal.

Summary: If you love, I mean really really love music, especially if you love more than one genre of music, you have found the best speakers on the market. I tried the Bose companion 2(ugghh) the Audioengine 2+(awesome but I knew there could be more) and finally the A5+. I feel like goldilocks finding the bed that was just right.....
Summary: I got these speakers about 2 years ago. On balance, I absolutely love them. The sound is just tight. Very accurate, very crisp. Lovely highs, great midrange, and a surprisingly rich low end, given the small size of the speakers. I'm driving them with my Macbook Air/iTunes, via an Airport express, using the optical output, through Audioengine's fantastic D1 DA converter. The whole package is pretty amazing.
Summary: Let's be honest, these speakers are not for everyone. They are a considerable investment and they are not small in size as computer speakers, but, If you listen to a lot of music on your computer, I seriously doubt you can do better at anywhere near this price point. Since I rigged these up, I've become hooked on listening to my music collection. It's just astounding that you hear things in a song that you've never heard before.
Summary: I got this and pair up with a AirMusic Air play (I have the bamboo one) LOVE IT! The speaker sounds rich clean and full I was hearing lots more things from the speaker The bamboo finish look good and neat from any of other speakers Some buyer report there is a over heat prob I play it for 10 hour the first day I don't expirance any over heat prob. (at normal sound lvl) The music keep on playing and seems very stable.
Summary: Absolutely outstanding sound. Before buying I read almost every review here on Amazon, and I agree with "the consensus." These are not "computer speakers" but I use them that way, to my daily delight. The bass is tight and sufficient. Sweet midrange. No listener fatigue, even after a full-day work session. Broke in quickly and they have been with me about a year now. Just ordered the little overpriced rubber stands hoping for a bit more goodness.
Summary: I own both the A5 (black) and the A5+ (bamboo). Both sound(ed) wonderful, the A5+ having better depth extension, the older model a bit "brighter". They are both now dead (the A5+ lasted a mere 10 months). I first noticed the "noise" from the passive speaker after being played at 75% of maximum volume for a couple hours. I turned it off. Let it cool down. Reading a bit online, I discovered that this problem is both common AND indicative of heat-related failure.
Summary: These are the best powered speakers that can be purchased for less than $1000 or even more. The bamboo construction radiates a warm and full bass response. Highs are crisp and clear, and the midrange shines on its own. I use them for all genres of music (including classical) and they bring out the best in compressed files. I own multiple pairs of these (also in white) and they are better sounding than any speaker in this price range.
Summary: I bought these speakers to upgrade from a Logitech Z-680 5.1 system I had for awhile. I knew I was getting a new level of sound quality by going with these, but the sound is so good I was surprised as I had not heard sound of this quality prior. I have them hooked up to a Sound Blaster ZxR, and I have added the Audioengine S8 subwoofer as well. The sound quality is, IMO, exceptional.
