Listening to these speakers as I type this review!
18 July 2014
Summary: I had my eyes on these speakers for a while, a couple of weeks ago i watched an "unbox therapy" video and I decided to give these a try. I am absolutely thrilled with my purchase, these speakers are amazing. I am actually hearing instruments that i didn't even know existed in the track.
Summary: I wanted a set of good computer speakers that would eliminate the need for the a subwoofer (to save space). These look great and sound great, although there is a noticeable reduction in bass (at least it seemed to me the first time I heard music through them). Regardless, the sound quality is exceptional.
Summary: Speakers work great. Easy to set up, work great with my turntable and my laptop. I would highly recommend these speakers. They shipped quickly, and I have had no problems so far. Sound great for all types of music.
Summary: So far so good. These tiny speakers are playing Pandora over my wireless Internet. They have decent sound but not high fidelity. So don't order these if you want ultra quality sound from bookshelf speakers. (But in fairness to Audioengine, using a wireless Internet connection is not the best source for audio signals.) One can easily pay $5000.00 to achieve that. These speakers are very serviceable and the cabinets are finished to a glass-like feel.
Summary: These little speakers combined with the AS8 subwoofer are simply perfect, at least for my needs. I am sooo glad I listened to an audiophile friend and bought these instead of B&W's. Play Infected Mushroom's "Never Mind" from the Army of Mushrooms album. That's my go-to demo for friends. It'll make your hair stand straight up. Mind blowing.
Summary: A pair of Audioengine A5+ connected to your iMac through a DAC is quite simply the best way to get great quality sound at a very affordable price. You will be blown away by the difference in your music. You may not even recognize it. You will have a whole new relationship with even your favorite songs you have listened to dozens of times. I have tried them all- Bose systems, the awful Sonos system, all of them.
Summary: I usually listen to music with noise canceling Bose headphones so I can really hear the music. I've had nice speakers in the past, so I didn't have really high expectations about bookshelf speakers. Wow! I was completely wrong. These speakers are amazing. I heard parts of songs I hadn't even heard with my headphones. That's impressive. I have these at my design studio and they are certainly powerful enough to fill the room with music plus they look great.
Summary: The Bamboo speakers are the best looking of the Audioengines. I have owned many computer speakers and these are the best so far. Great separation, crisp highs and lows. These are great for low or high volume listening. I have two issues. Because of the way they were photographed they looked smaller than they are, and I wish I had the option to turn the light off on the front of the left speaker. Do not let these two small grips stop you.
Summary: I have never before written a review of a product on Amazon, but Audioengine's providing me a NEW set of Audioengine 5+ when my Audioengine 5 set failed one month prior to the end of my 3 year warranty has prompted me to post one. Beside the great sound I have gotten for 3 years from the 5 set, for them to provide a new set of a later model is exemplary.
