Summary: Been looking for some new closed headphones, with only three
at the moment and for some time in fact. Good ones, though:
Sony MDR Z1000, Sony MDR 7520, and Senn Amperiors,
Sometimes you just need closed headphones.
The hot closed headphone right now, already a FOTM,
is the Focal Spirit Pro.
I set out to buy a pair, they were out of stock all over.
So I'm reading reviews, looking at Amazon and elsewhere,
and I see these Yamaha's.
Summary: The packaging really states quality. The heaviness of the box and the elegance of the packaging really portrays quality. The sound quality is the best I have ever heard. When I first received the headphones I tried them in my RX-V673 receiver and was amazed with the quality. It was all there, the crisp high tones to the deep bass. I am a frequent traveler and a heavy user of the Bose QC15 headphones as are most business travelers.
Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Good Bass, Great Sound, Stylish
Summary: I was very anxious to hear these as Yamaha has not had a alternative to the many consumer offerings currently offered. I was definitely not disappointed the sound is even and clear perfect distribution of mids, lows and highs outstanding clarity I am hearing things in songs I have never noticed before in songs I have listened to all my life.
Pros: Comfortable, Compact, Great Sound, Outstanding Clarity, Stylish
Summary: These headphones have now taken the place of several other models for me. In recording, travel, and easy-listening, Yamaha's PRO500 headphones fit each of the needs, perfectly. Great design, and fabulous sound. Happy I made the investment.
Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Good Bass, Good Value, Great Sound, Stylish
Summary: The Yamaha PRO 500 headphones deliver smooth frequency response, with clean crisp mids and great bass response. Perfect for listening to any portable audio device. Also work well for recording and videography monitoring applications.
Pros: Clean Crisp Mids, Comfortable, Durable, Good Bass, Good Value, Great Sound, Smooth frequency response, Stylish
Summary: I bought these with high hopes, and I'm really happy so far. I've used them in the gym, at home and on airplane trips. The sound quality is really great and accurate for music. A word of warning--they are pretty big, but they isolate outside sound really well, and really allow you to get lost in the music. I just recently listened to them on a cross-country flight, and they stayed on my head the entire time--they are REALLY comfortable.

Excerpt: I am very pleased with my HPH-Pro 500's. Much better than the Beats Studio (Comedy amounts of bass) and to my surprise also better than sennheiser's Momentum over ear headset. Nice fairly flat response great highs and mids with good bass. The clarity and separation are really good right through the whole range of frequencies. They are a little large but fit comfortably enough for long sessions.
