Excellent Headphones, But Recessed Mids

LazBro123, B&H Photo
1 March 2013
  • Excerpt: These are some excellent bass-head headphones. The sound is extremely clear, with an extremely tight, deep, well-textured and impactful bass, a clear midrange, and a very detailed high end. The mids are recessed, so if you don't like a V shaped frequency curve, then steer clear from the PRO 900. The highs can get a bit extreme at times, but I wouldn't call it harsh or piercing... I actually find it quite enjoyable.
  • Pros: Comfortable, Deep Impactful Bass, Detachable Cable, Efficient, Extremely Detailed, Great soundstage, Look Great
  • Cons: Highs Can Get A Bit Harsh, Leak, Not very portable, Portable Amp Recommended, Recessed Mids

Huge Bass... And not much else!

  • Excerpt: I own a B&W P5 that I have been using with my Ipod classic for over 3 year. I purchased the Ultrasone PRO 900 with the Fiio E17 headphone amplifier in order to get an improvement in sound quality from the P5, particularly bass since it is what the P5 misses the most. Built: The Pro 900 come with a very nice case, additional earcups, two cables, they are built like a tank (made in germany) and are very comfortable on your head Sound: The bass is VERY powerful and it has...
  • Pros: Durable
  • Cons: Poor Sound Quality, Pricey / Poor Value

Ultrasone Pro 900 (Unbalanced)

  • Excerpt: Currently I use the headphone out of either my Iphone 4s or through my xonar DX on my computer using Foobar2000. The headphone is a bit light on bass and clarity when just out of the Iphone 4s. I hope to get an amp because I know they will really shine when powered properly, or so I've read. The bass is amazing on these and at night i find that it's hard to take these headphones off to get to bed on time lol. These sound simply amazing with Dubstep, it's unreal.
  • Pros: Clear Sound, Durable, Easy To Use
  • Cons: Ear Placement, Mids Are Recessed, Pricey / Poor Value

  • Excerpt: These are awesome headphones but they are a little lacking in the mid range. They sound a little too brittle and bright with a huge amount of low end.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight
  • Cons: Poor Sound Quality

awesome headphones all-around

  • Excerpt: I use these to listen to music from my macbook and my galaxy s2. I also play drums with them on. These headphones produce an amazing, natural surround sound. They have plenty of power. The lows are refined and sound awesome. All around they're great headphones with a durable, sleek design and they're very comfortable. I don't use an amplifier but I'm sure they'd sound even better. I own audio technica-es7 headphones as well. These are obviously on a whole other level.
  • Pros: Clear Sound, Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Versatile

  • Excerpt: The sound is phenomenal, I use them for my home recording studio. The separation (highs, mids and lows) are right in pocket, it has a nice bass that is not overbearing and it never distorts. I highly recommend these headphones for mixing any genre of music... Thanks B&H!!!!

Unparalleled bass without sacrifice

Got to Hear it All, B&H Photo
3 September 2012
  • Excerpt: These headphones live up to their reputation of being the king of bass. My pleasant surprise is that there is no sacrifice of midrange or treble to achieve it. Mids and highs are still clear with no bleed over from the thumping bass. I do recommend a good headphone amplifier. I use the FiiO E17, mostly with an iPhone 4. The bonus is that these headphones are extremely comfortable.
  • Pros: Clear Sound, Durable, Easy To Use, Good Protective Case, Versatile, Very comfortable
  • Cons: Pricey but worth it

Even at low volume!!

  • Excerpt: I was on a job recently and the guy doing audio sweetening had a pair of the Ultrasone PRO 900's, everyone who heard them purchased them. Yes, everyone. These cans are comfortable enough to wear all day. You get the same even mix, including the bass, loud as when you have them turned down. The bass is part of the mix, not drowning out everything else, like I said, nice even mix. I am going to use these for recording interviews on location.
  • Pros: Bass Even When Quiet, Clear Sound, Comfortable, Nice Even Mix
