Excerpt: I bought this to replace the venerable Audio Technica ATH-M50. It is a great all-around headphone. It plays well with most genres. Responds nicely to EQ if need be and doesn't need an amp. The bass has nice impact and the highs are forward, but in no way fatiguing.

At first the Ultrasone's highs were almost too harsh to listen to. After about 120 hours of break in using various types of music, the highs are much more natural.
