Bad ear cup
2 July 2013
Summary: I've seen too many reviews on people having a bad ear cup, decent quality but some people have returned them 3 times plus. Don't risk this, find a new headset. Mine is currently heading to the factory after the left ear cup went. Week before the sound of voices became raspy and hard hearing.
Summary: Sound quality is excellent out of the box. Then after amount a month the connection where the cable enters the headset starts to fail causing distortion, static, and sound loss. Huge disappointment - luckily amazon took them back and I was able to get a different headset.
Summary: I got to say this is an awesome sounding headset. I loved it the moment I put it on. I am a casual gamer and play usually on weekends. I was playing and the left side audio completely cut out. I wiggled the wire and it came back for a couple seconds then stopped. I am in no way hard on my stuff, I barely used it and had this kind of failure is unacceptable. My son has a $50 headset and has had it for a long time now with no issues.
Summary: I got this headset for my wife, and we both agree they are going back. First off, the headset itself is a cleverly disguised vice. Just a few minutes with these on your head will give you a throbbing headache. I don't want to try to stretch them out and break them, so there is strike one. Next, every time the computer is turned off, the driver glitches out and they won't work. Have to disable the headset driver, restart the computer, then enable the driver again.
Summary: Honestly, I have never been so disappointed by a turtle beach product than I was when I got this. I figured because it is used in MLG tournaments that it would be a pretty solid headset, but to me it is the complete opposite. First off, you can't plug it into your xbox 360 usb port or you will have an almost intolerable buzzing noise in your headset. Instead, you have to plug it into a wall charger for your ipod/iphone for it to not have this buzzing noise.
Summary: I'll make this one simple for everyone. DO NOT BUY. Most of these reviewers are probably made by interns at turtle beach. There is no way these score 5 stars. Mic crackles very loudly if your touch it, or readjust. Buzzing and sound cutting in and out right out of box eventually leading to left going completely silent after weeks of intermittent sound. Have no idea how something can leave the factor with issues like this.
Summary: Two headsets, both failed within 30 days! 1st headset require daily power cycles because the audio would stop. On the 30th day, the left earphone cup started to squeak. Within hours the left speaker and mic failed. 2nd headset, 7 days into owning the headset the right ear cup has started to squeak. by the 30th day both ear cups were a squeak mess. And then on the 32nd day the audio cable attached to the headset started to fail.
Summary: These headphones are by far the worst peripheral I have ever used. And I have used a lot. Nearly impossible to set-up. No software in box and very hard to find on their site. Requires registration to download drivers and config software. Weird authentication once installed. Ridiculous set-up and configuration. I like advanced technology and buy a lot of new, cutting edge things. But these headphones basically jump the shark.
Summary: This product is bad. Within one week my left speaker shorted out and I take care of my headphones. The x32 and x12 were better with the dss2 amp. I have owned quite a few headsets throughout last year and this was the worst. The volume controller for the "independent chat" feature is heavily guarded by eight presets and weighs about 3-4lbs. It feels cheaply made. The mic is a redeeming quality in that it does mute out just whispers.
Edit-Great But Seems Most People Are Getting The Same Defects
12 March 2013
Summary: Dont get me wrong i love this headset when it is working properly. I wonder though wide spread the defect problems with these are and if my replacement headset will have the same issues. My headset also seems to have gotten the squeaking plastic problem that was described at the end of the top review as well as the left earpiece going dead unless u hold the wire a certain way as described in the worst review so far.
