Very good, if your gentle

hunter t., Newegg
24 March 2013
  • Summary: I have owned these headsets for a very long time. after about 4-5 months of owning these headsets the wire started to fray leading into the actual headset ( keep in mind that i treat my electronic very well).
  • Pros: - Good cord length if your comp is far away - Good mic - Nice controller on the cord for easy access to volume, lights, and mic. - Comes with different ear cups if you don't like the default. - Good software for controlling headset settings and properties
  • Cons: - Can break very, very, very easily be very gentle. - Again the cord can be good and bad, If you happen to have your comp right next to you expect you cable to get twisted up very easily. Can lead to breaking the wires - Mic can be very loud and bother people online but im just nit picking.

Good Product

Anonymous, Newegg

  • Pros: Really good sound quality, the DTS is good, and I like that all it takes to power this is one USB port. The volume mixer is good, and it has a "ON" "OFF" switch button for the lights on the headset witch is ok, bit useless if you ask me. Really like that you can bend them and take them pretty muc...
  • Cons: After just a few months of using this the right speaker started going out. At first i thought it was the volume, but it wasn't. Every time i move the cable coming out of the volume mixer box, the right speaker flickers on and off, just like the lights do as well. Even with the rope looking cable ...

It satisfied me

Alexander D., Newegg
15 October 2012
  • Summary: I'm used to gaming with my Sennheisers on, so I'm kind of spoiled when it comes to sound and comfort.
  • Pros: It's easy to install and use the software, and the mic is amazing. It's very good at only picking up your voice, which the people you're chatting with will appreciate. The sound quality is decent, and the volume can get very loud.
  • Cons: The sound quality isn't as good as I had hoped. Also, the strap puts a lot of pressure on the top of my head, which becomes very uncomfortable after an hour or two. If you game as much as I do, you'll probably run into the same problem.

Good headset for the price range

William C., Newegg
13 September 2012
  • Summary: I had to take one egg off due to the bass being focused more in the left ear. Hoping an RMA can fix this. Overall I think it's great but again with the issue if it's fixed with a simple RMA my rating will most certainly increase on this product.
  • Pros: Amazing audio quality I can definitely pick out some smaller things my other headsets could not pick up. Ease of use (it's a USB headset, not much easier) Mic is by far one of the best I have out of 4 different pairs of headsets I have owned. The buttons for control feel very good. I like the abi...
  • Cons: Bass seems to be highly focused in the left ear piece. As do other sounds despite being set to be equal to both sides in the options. User Interface for headset adjusting is a bit...laggy at times even with top specs. Buttons get stuck and sometimes will repeat as many times as you clicked so be ...

It's nice, but has a few quirks

James B., Newegg
15 July 2012
  • Summary: The only reason I've knocked it on one egg is due to the software. The DTS virtual surround emulation is close, but still is difficult to determine the difference between center, front channel, and rear channel speakers.
  • Pros: Powerful headset, sounds good, can get loud. It's comfortable, uses a USB port, and has a decent bit of style without being too wild. The lights can be easily turned off, and the DTS Surround Sensation adds a different touch to movies. The headset swivels out of the way, so that's good. It feels ...
  • Cons: Sadly, I didn't see that it was virtual 5.1 surround sound. As I quickly found out, virtual isn't exactly all that great. The software lacks the same polish they put in the aesthetics of the headset. Also, while it's nice that the headset can get loud, I feel it starts out a little too loud. I ha...

Great headset, mediocre software

Robert V., Newegg
5 July 2012
  • Summary: I use these for gaming daily. I play competitive FPS and was looking to improve sound quality over my Fata1ity headset I've used for years. I am pleased with the Shock One set and have no intention of returning them.
  • Pros: This is hands down the most comfortable headset I've worn so far. I've tried out (and returned) several name brand sets that were higher priced than these that were way less confortable. The construction seems solid and they are steel reinforced over the top of the set. The hinges should keep the...
  • Cons: I took an egg off because of the software/user interface. It's fairly simple to use but lacks decent documentation (which doesn't match the current version of the UI). A gaming headset in this price range should have software that can at least create and save multiple EQ/gaming settings. The UI p...

Could be better

Brandon S., Newegg
18 May 2012
  • Summary: Try it out, not bad so far.
  • Pros: Excellent sound quality, comfortable, solid microphone.
  • Cons: Somewhat worried about the sets durability because of where the hinge is located, also the up down volume button is to close to the cord. Cord also seems very small and am worried about frailing in the future. Will update in 1 year.

All around very good

Shane R., Newegg
18 November 2011
  • Pros: -Good bass and EQ out of the box -People say they fit snugly which I don't agree with, they fit right around my ears perfectly and are easily adjusted if you want to slacken it. -HINGED earpieces. This is a must with a gaming headset because when you rae constantly putting on and taking off a hea...
  • Cons: Not the absolute best surround sound headset out obviously, but for what this headset is priced at it is definitely the best for its price range
