Summary: This was a great headset until it failed. The left headset died short of a couple of weeks before the warranty ran out. Went through the RMA process on the Steel Series website and shipped back the defective headset with tracking. Tracking shows who signed for it on August 23, 2013. All contact with Steel Series must be done on their support website. There is no outside e-mail address or telephone contact number. Some initial inquiries were replied to.
Pros: Sound quality and everything was great while it was actually working...
Cons: Got this set June, 2013. It is now July, 2014 and the right-side driver is now dead. Only get sound on left side, no sound on right anymore. I am very disappointed, as I expected these to last at least a couple years or more when you price them at $90 for a headset.
Summary: These headphones came recommended to me and I was extremely excited to purchase them. They seem well made and are very comfortable but, as soon as I tried them on I noticed they weren't working properly. The mic volume and headphone volume were at about 50% from their normal levels. There were driver issues, no windows sound issues...they were purely the headphones. I have a crumby pair of $10 Logitechs that were getting much better sound quality than these.
Summary: The quality of sound and the comfort of the headset are outstanding. Unfortunately, the USB connector is poorly made and started going out a few months ago. It has slowly progressed and now after six months it is completely unusable.
Summary: The USB soundcard drivers did not function properly with Windows 7 x64. The first return process took more than a month to steelseries to complete and I was out the headset the entire time (they don't cross ship). Upon receiving a new headset I tried reinstalling the drivers and rebooting my pc - first thing the drivers did was crash and the audio flipped (left right swap) as it did before.
Summary: The mic starting giving out static within 3 months. I had to move the wire a certain way to not get static and even then it would give static if i touch the wire. Started an RMA. Takes the support like a week or two to answer your reply. After a month of waiting, I finally received a product back in the mail. It was a different color, Heat Orange, and not Frost Blue.
