User Review

  • Summary: I've worn the Steelseries Siberia V2 and it is by far better than this. I would rate this at about a 6.5 or 7 out of 10
  • Pros: -The detachable mic is convenient if you like to use speakers from time to time -Cord length -Feels light -Not easy to break - Really Clear sound - The mic picks up sound relatively easy
  • Cons: -The padding is not on the ear it is around it, so the hard plastics presses against your ears -Your ears can start to hurt after prolonged use -The long cord can be annoying at times -Sounds lacks bass

Good quality, but a mess

Russ, Amazon
18 November 2010
  • Summary: This headset product is quite flexible, allowing one to plug in via USB or analog jacks. The sound quality is good and the built quality is nice too. Unfortunately, it wasn't really what I had in mind when ordering a gaming headset.

Good for awhile

Eric D., Newegg
10 September 2009
  • Summary: So this is my second pair of the exact same set of headphones. The first pair, broke from dropping it a couple of times and the one I have currently I've had for a year now and it's already going bad.
  • Pros: Great sound, comfort, and working microphone! Unlike others, I have not had a problem using the mic. The sound is fantastic! A nice bass level with excellent surround sound capabilities. Can be used very nicely with gaming or advanced media.
  • Cons: As stated below, the speakers themselves have started giving out. I believe it's the volume control attached to the cord that is causing the issue. Microphone is holding up but there is no nice place to clip it. It would be nice to see the microphone attached physically to the headset itself.

cable nightmare

Scott C., Newegg
20 August 2009
  • Summary: If the mic was built in these would rock.
  • Pros: Good sound quality, comfortable fit. I got mine at quakecon because my set died. The Steelseries booth gave me a considerable discount. I would not have bought them otherwise.
  • Cons: Mic is separate and you have 3 different cables to deal with. The first pair I had were defective but the Steel booth at quakecon quickly gave me another pair. All the cables really suck.

Mis-leading description

Scubasteve, Amazon
24 April 2009
  • Summary: its the steel series headset i admit, but its like they took out the mic part and replaced with plush fabric instead of foam in the earcups, its still a nice headset for 50 dollhairs, but i feel the description should at least be corrected

Gamer tech cool, Durability meh

  • Summary: These were my first gaming headphones I invested a little money in. Inspired by 'BassHunter' (the techno music producer/gamer) i thought these would be a pretty nice addition to my rig. Theyre nice. they feel good. They sound pretty good. They have a long cable.. almost too long.

Mixed results

David, Amazon
24 April 2009
  • Summary: The mic quality is good, the mic being stuck on a wire that hangs from your head is bad. They're reasonably comfy but look horrendously large and ungainly.

Steelseries Headset

Nancy L., Newegg
29 December 2008
  • Summary: this headset, with a regular swivel microphone would make this one a keeper.
  • Pros: Very nice sound Quality and fit very well on my head. Sturdy Cables prevent coiling and tearing.
  • Cons: Very heavy, too many adapters for the USB. the microphone was the biggest disappointment on this one. It is a very low quality clip-on mic that is pretty much obsolete.

Good sound quality, but...

William B., Newegg
24 September 2008
  • Summary: If you can be incredibly ginger with the mic and don't mind clipping it and unclipping it to your shirt every time you sit down or get up, go ahead and grab this, it's got great sound quality. Otherwise, don't touch this at all.
  • Pros: The sound quality of this thing is great. I happily used the soundcard in it too. It has been great for both music and chatting. It's rather comfortable on the head as well, and sits so that it doesn't mess up your hair, or make your ears sweat or anything like that.
  • Cons: The mic. It's an absolute piece of garbage. First of all, if you haven't noticed, it has to clip onto you rather than extending from the headset, meaning if you're not wearing a shirt, too bad. Second of all, it's fragile. After only 3 months of light use, the hinge that holds the clip together b...
