  • Excerpt: On the one hand, these are made by Sony, so you know that they're going to be pretty decent from that point alone. However, as part of their line of DJ headphones, the V500s are clearly at the bottom of the pile for overall quality. Keep in mind that these are designed as "professional" headphones, for DJ/mixer/engineer use, so if these applications don't apply, you'd be far better served with either (a) a cheaper pair of headphones, or (b) a comparably-priced pair that...

Good value

  • Summary: We have about a dozen of these we use for filed audio. I think these headphones are a good value for the price. They are certainly more comfortable than lower or similarly priced models, travel well and provide better than average sound quality. If you want/need extreme audio quality, you probably need a more expensive option.
  • Pros: Attractive Design, Clear sound, Compact, Easy To Set Up
  • Cons: It's not Bose

Ideal for light mixing & studio monitoring - Heavy DJ use then look elsewhere

  • Excerpt: The Sony MDR V500 DJ earphones are designed for home / small venue DJing and studio monitor use. The cups are mounted on a swivel connection allowing them to be adjusted to all angles for a snug fit and even can be reversed if required. The headband is adjustable so once a good fit has been achieved with this the headphones are very easy to take on & off quickly (even single handed) whilst mixing.
