  • Summary: They're pretty good about blocking out most noise without the volumen needing to be too high. Not for audiophiles, but good enough for casual listening.

  • Summary: I travel, don't need noise cancellation and tend to crunch headphones accidently every so often so for the price these meet my needs. Good sound/bass and speakers turn flat so they slip into my computer bag nicely. I carry earbuds too and switch between the two for ear comfort.

Best Budget Headphones

Cheryl A., Newegg

  • Summary: My version had that Sony letters protruding out, so the silver came off in a few months. The letters are flat on this, so it may or may not be an issue. Not like it actually matters though.
  • Pros: I've had a navy blue pair of these for nearly FOUR years now. They might look cheap, but they're very sturdy. Never had an issue. They also sound great. I listen to music, watch videos, play FPS games, and they work fine. When I don't feel like plugging my $60 gaming headset up, I just get these and plug them right up. They sound just as good, and are much more comfortable. Never doubt Sony!

A new budget go-to

Jean N., Newegg

  • Summary: - I'd love to afford a replacement for my Audio Technica's, but these have definitely proved their worth over time. I bought them at a Best Buy initially as a cheap temporary solution and they've kept up very nicely. - Nice freq range, though it lacks in deafening volumes. - I'd say this is the best for the dollar. If you want to spend $50 more, you might find better quality with an attached mic. For me, these are good for another year, at least as backup.
  • Pros: Uses: Desktop computer, minor phone transport - My experience with Sony's have always been pretty good, and the experience with these headphones are no exception. - I've had a pair of Bose headphones that were horribly constructed and had worse bass response than these, but I've also had a pair of Audio Technica's that had far better construction than these with much better sound. Granted, both of these were ~$150 options each whereas these were bought for only $20. C...
  • Cons: - Like others have said, they're constructed of somewhat flimsy plastic. They've stood the test of time, however, and have surprised me with how well they've kept up. In the end, I think the fact that they're lightweight but durable puts this as that last Pro I gave, but I could see how other's would view it differently. - The volume doesn't reach extreme levels, nor is the highest level obtainable without a muddled sound. It's never been too much of a problem, since ...

Good, noise canceling headphones

Tpy, ABT Electronics
3 January 2015
  • Excerpt: These Sony headphones produce great sound and the noise canceling feature works well. I bought these as a gift for my son, to get him to stop taking mine. He loves them. A bit pricier than I expected, but if they last, they will be worth it.
  • Pros: Comfortable, Good Bass, Great Sound
