Extra bass is no joke

  • Excerpt: I am usually weary about buying sony elecronics due to bad experiences in the past but I got this one as a gift. I have to say I am rather impressed. These are some of the comfortable headphones I've ever put on in my life. These oversize cans have enough cushioning to make a sofa. You might want to keep these for home use because they are monsteriously large and will definetely attract tons of attention.

monoblocks, epinions.com
28 October 2009
  • Summary: Not perfect by any means, but for under $100, it's hard to go wrong with the Sony MDR-XB700...as long as you can stand its looks.
  • Pros: Great comfort; good (though not great), balanced sound; affordable.
  • Cons: 'Extra bass' claim somewhat disingenious. Questionable aethetics. Sound leaks.

Sony MDR-XB700 Headphones

Fuscero, REVIEW STREAM
30 July 2009
  • Excerpt: These are real nice pair of headphones and I’ve been really pleased with my experience with them so far. The only thing I can complain about is that they are so large that they’re not really leave-the-house friendly.

Ear, listen to this!

Windyoldman "Windy", Amazon

  • Summary: Pushing 70, and with tinnitus, I've used headphones for some years as a way of hearing both music and television clearly without having to raise the volume to the point of distortion. Never satisfied with less than 40mm units, I ordered this pair on a whim and wish I'd had them ages ago.

Not as much bass as I expected.

E.O, Amazon
14 December 2011
  • Summary: Having tried the XB300s & 500s, this being the next one up in the range of bass oreientated headphones by Sony led me to expected it to have even more of a punch when listening to music and gaming. However the large space between the speaker and your ear actually reduces the effect of the extreemly large driver inside so you end up getting less bass on these than on the cheaper XB500s. However it is not all about bass.

fantastic sound

M. O'DWYER, Amazon
2 December 2011
  • Summary: I've bought other well known brand named headphones and for a lot more money...but having bought these I can honestly say they are the best thus far...well done Sony...one happy Sony fan. 10/10 for sound...6/10 for the size of the headphone cable, if I move the lead pulls out and my neighbours are privy to very loud music..

Amazing

me, Amazon
6 November 2011
  • Summary: It is really big and if you like that like that like I do that's great. It's not heavy at all and it has insane bass. The quality is great but it does leak on full volume and you need to turn it down to about half of the maximum volume if you don't want anybody to hear your music. I would definitely recommend these over beats because they are cheaper, don't need batteries, have better sound quality and better bass.
