Excerpt: These closed headphones will run for your money. They have extremely good balance, and their comfort is definitely taken part of the design of these headphones. The Sony MDR-XB500 is something I would recommend for someone, at least for the entry level of earphones that want to experience closed headphones.
Summary: Just like other reviewers have mentioned, this set is a great deal if you are a lover of loud bass. Cord could have been a little longer since it just reached the mp3 player in my pocket while washing the car. The ear pads are plush but cause my ears to get a bit warm and they feel a little tight for my large head but I would imagine they would be comfortable for 95% of users.
Great Sound Quality, A Little Tight, Cord Too Short

Summary: GOOD I purchased these headphones for the express purpose of improved sound quality over my previous pair of wireless Sony headphones (I was tired of static regardless of configuration). The sound quality of these headphones is superior to any I have used in the past. The bass if full and deep (just how I like it) while mid and high ranges are clear.
Summary: Good bang for the buck cans. Super comfy. These are designed for super heavy bass (i.e. hip-hop, trance, electronica etc.) as most have said the hi mids are lacking but these are called Xtra Bass for a reason. I have many different sets of cans from ultra cheapos to in-ears and Grados. While they don't compare to those last two or cans costing 10 times these, the xbr500s perform very well.
Sony MDR-XB500s are extremely comfortable, affordable headphones that are great for people who love thumping bass

Summary: I normally don't review headphones that are sub $100, but I have found people to be pretty satisfied with these headphones, both in terms of price and sound-quality. These definitely exhibit the signature Sony sound in regards to bass and loudness. They have a sensitivity rating of 104 dB/mW so they can really pump out a lot of volume. One of my customers cited that they sound like little speakers when they're not on your head and you have them playing.
Summary: I really couldn't ask for better headphones at this price, these sound great, feel great, work great, and even smell great. I saw these headphones at Best Buy and tried them out, loved them immediately. Pros: Good bass, not too muddy, doesn't drown out every other sound Great mids pretty good highs VERY comfortable Only about $50!! Cons: they don't have sound isolation, so if you're in a loud environment, prepare to crank up the volume in order to drown out the noise.
Summary: I find this headphones to be very good for long gaming sessions. Since I wear glasses, a lot of headphones will press my glasses to the side of my head, but this headphone is very soft and doesn't exert a lot of clamping force. Even though the sound quality for most music other than hip-hop is average, the sound is very mellow and easy on the ears. In my opinion, some of the more hi-fi headphones can sound overly harsh.
