Excerpt: These closed headphones will run for your money. They have extremely good balance, and their comfort is definitely taken part of the design of these headphones. The Sony MDR-XB500 is something I would recommend for someone, at least for the entry level of earphones that want to experience closed headphones.
Pros: Clear Bass, mid to high range sound clearness, the padding is worth the cost.
Cons: Don't handle some lower volume levels very well, then again these aren't designed to listen at near silence levels. Short cable as I am used to cables over 10', to fix that I bought an extension cable.
Pros: The bass, and to say that I am satisfied would be an understatement. These things tickle my ear drums. I'm afraid to turn the volume up too high ;)
Cons: The cord. I like the flat sleek design of it, however it should have been at least 2 feet longer, that way i could lean back and relax in my chair comfortably. They do leak a bit if you turn it up and if you've got people in your room trying to sleep then it might bother them.
Summary: I use this on my daily commute. It doesn't have noise cancellation but the isolation from the cushion is good enough on the subway. The sound and bass are pretty good. These headphones are extremely warm. They double as my earmuffs during this cold winter. I tried to use these at the gym, but that made me sweat like crazy.
Pros: Comfortable, Good Bass, Good Value, Great Sound, Warm
