Extra Bass? No, Appropriate Levels of Bass.

HN, Amazon
19 July 2011
  • Summary: Separation between different frequencies is excellent, I was really expecting poor performance reading the reviews here. But no. In fact they capture highs I hadn't heard before! Bass-lines are excellently recreated and then some. I like to believe I'm saying this with a bit of authority - I listen to electronic music (which seems to be the target market for these) and I only compare by listening tracks I've heard (many times) on gigs; I get the same physical vibrations...

Put your Dr. Dre beats down... and try these for size!!!

  • Summary: Well first of all i would like to state that these headphones are bassy, in fact they are very bassy... however this is not necessarily a bad thing because it adds so much to the sound and over all feel of the music. Other reviewers on the Internet have said that these headphones sometimes distort the other frequencies and only focus mainly on the low and mid frequencys , well i can say well... it entirely depends on you musical taste.

Feel the bass!

Shane, Amazon
25 December 2010
  • Summary: I purchased these as a replacement for my surround system at home for when I'm at uni. I absolutely love them. Absolutely great for lounging around in before a night out, playing your favourite tunes on 'em to get you in the party mood. The Good: The bass is bouncy, deep and has great depth. It doesn't deteriorate high volumes. They are incredibly comfortable. It feels like the pads hug your ears.

Best sounding headphones I have owned

J.F, Amazon
6 September 2010
  • Summary: I have been using some other (non-extra bass) Hi-Fi style Sony headphones for the past few years and have replaced them every time they have broken, and for my ipod i use earbud headphones, but these are the best sonding Hi-Fi style (over the head) ones i have ever owned - by a long shot. I don't use these for listening to my ipod, though thats what the designers obviously had in mind - as the cord is very short.

Almost Perfect

Kamolwat Suvityasiri "The Consumer", Amazon
28 June 2010
  • Summary: When I first read reviews about this product before I bought it, people usually said that the base was too overwhelming. I disagree completely because I love bass! and also I think it depends on the EQ. I normally use my ipod touch to play music with and if you mess around with the EQ you can pretty much listen to music in whatever style you like. People were also saying how comfortable the ear cups are.... are they're extremely comfortable!

For the non-audiophile user

Water Boatman, Amazon
4 May 2010
  • Summary: The Good: Phenomenally comfortable, leather-esque pads that are like a big hug for your ears and a padded headband-thingy Reasonable sound isolation for the user Despite the focus on bass these will play all music beautifully and will encourage you to listen to all of your old favourites again(including twiddly classical pieces and my own personal favourite of Chamber pop - as iTunes calls it) Flat cable means its never got tangled, not once.

BASS!! As Promised.

Mr. Mj Culley "Blurayboy", Amazon
22 February 2010
  • Summary: The Bass is astounding. If you are into Rock, Pop etc. You need to run these Cans on a flat or low bass eq. I found the bass most dominant in the midrange frequency which can make them sound "muffled" like other reviewers have found. But after dropping the bass they have a rich and very powerful sound quality (although not as precise as past pairs I have owned). I waited a few weeks before I done this review to allow them to bed in and settle.

Very bassy

Jessica Millar "JessMillar", Amazon
12 January 2010
  • Summary: Just got these headphones through my door today, really good for lovers of the Drum and Bass or Dubstep music genre. Was hoping the overall sound would be quite clear but the bass really does take over, but I guess you get what you pay for! I do love bass so I cant complain :) very comfy on your ears aswell, really soft pads and they also slightly suck your ears for max listening pleasure.

Buy these.

Mr. J. Everton "wolfyjoe", Amazon
25 December 2009
  • Summary: I recently recieved a pair of these Sony headphones as a Christmas gift and they are immense. Sony say they the inspiration for the ear pads was an old leather sofa and i can see why, they're so comfortable. I like it loud and was not disappointed, in fact i had to turn them down after an hour for fear of permanent damage. I'm listening to all my music in a brand new light- the bass they generate is just intense- so buy these headphones!
