Summary: Like the way they fit and feel and the noise reduction is good, but I have a lot of static interference. Have used several other types of headphones in the house and never had that issue. Going to return them and try another type.
Summary: I bought these for my long train ride to Boston because of the noise cancelling quality. I found the sound quality to be average at best and the noise cancelling to not work at all. Usually Sony is a solid brand but these fall short. Don't buy.
Excerpt: Overall, good headphones. I purchased these to replace a broken set. $50 seems to be a good entry range for noise canceling headphones. One could spend much more and have a crisper sound and less background (outside) noise. But, for the every day user and for around the yard I would recommend these.
Excerpt: Replaced Sony MDRNC7 with MDRNC8 What a disappointment.

What a difference. '7' was good for a cheap noise reduction headphone. '8' doesn't even block noise passively as well as my $20 Koss cheapies.

Total waste of money. Going back tomorrow.
Excerpt: As the other reviewer said. Noise reduction is worthless. In fact I hear a faint hissing from headphones when its turned on. Headphones do a better job by themselves reducing noise then using the electronics. Otherwise OK sounding headphones. A step up from cheap earbuds that come with players.
Excerpt: Not worth the time I took to buy these. Not even large enough to covet the entire ear. Most of the noise reduction comes from the pads, which is normal, and almost none comes from the active noise-canceling electronics.
Excerpt: No difference when i turn on the noise cancellation. At maximum volume I can still hear the people talking next to me. I bought this because I had a 8 hour traveling trip back home, it was a total disappointment. I have had headphones for $12 that were louder than this.
Excerpt: I am a pilot and have a very good (Bose) headset for use in my own aircraft. I am therefore familiar with noise cancellation. I bought this headset to use with my BB10 to listen to podCasts on a long-haul flight and find that there is no difference whether the noise cancellation is turned on or off.
