Excerpt: Nice headphones for $. People are complaining that they suck compared to Bose and Beats. Those people are snobs and must be willing to pay $ for headphones. I'm not. Sound quality probably a 7 out of 10. Not bad but not fantastic.
Pros: Comfortable, Good Bass, Good Value, Lightweight
Summary: I bought these for my long train ride to Boston because of the noise cancelling quality. I found the sound quality to be average at best and the noise cancelling to not work at all. Usually Sony is a solid brand but these fall short. Don't buy.
Excerpt: Overall, good headphones. I purchased these to replace a broken set. $50 seems to be a good entry range for noise canceling headphones. One could spend much more and have a crisper sound and less background (outside) noise. But, for the every day user and for around the yard I would recommend these.
Excerpt: Noise canceling headphones should, at a minimum, cancel noise. When you put these uncomfortable headphones on, they muffle some noise. When you turn on the noise reduction feature, if you pay very, very close attention, you will notice that a tiny bit more noise vanishes. It's easy to miss, though.
Excerpt: The quality of sound is not amazing, but on the box you can read up to 90% of noise cancelling... The reality is that I am not able to feel a difference between NC on or off. So this model is cheap, but doesn't deliver what I expected at all
Excerpt: I am an avid gardener and I always am hooked up to my I-Pod. For a lo end product the sounds are great. The way I look at all the negativity by others who brought this product should blame them selves. Sony makes other high end headsets.
Pros: Comfortable, Compact, Good Bass, Good Value, Great Sound
Excerpt: Not worth the time I took to buy these. Not even large enough to covet the entire ear. Most of the noise reduction comes from the pads, which is normal, and almost none comes from the active noise-canceling electronics.
Excerpt: As the other reviewer said. Noise reduction is worthless. In fact I hear a faint hissing from headphones when its turned on. Headphones do a better job by themselves reducing noise then using the electronics. Otherwise OK sounding headphones. A step up from cheap earbuds that come with players.
Excerpt: Replaced Sony MDRNC7 with MDRNC8 What a disappointment.

What a difference. '7' was good for a cheap noise reduction headphone. '8' doesn't even block noise passively as well as my $20 Koss cheapies.

Total waste of money. Going back tomorrow.
