Poor Sony Support

Bill K., Newegg
22 September 2011
  • Summary: Spend your money on a non-Sony product and forego the grief from Sony.
  • Pros: Ok
  • Cons: Started to cut out after several months, both Sony and Newegg extended warranty refused to cover repairs.

Great Headphones

Philip W., Newegg
29 August 2011
  • Summary: I think people are confused about the function of "Noise Cancellation". These aren't earplugs, so they're not going to act like them. They only work with consistent, low frequency noise, like an air handler or road/rail/plane noise. For that, they work fantastically.
  • Pros: Clear audio Powerful enough Folding earcups increase portability Detachable cord will make repairs easier (years from now when cord breaks)
  • Cons: Not the most powerful in the low range (if you're concerned about this, you'll probably want a headset that's called BEATZ by Dre or similar) First pair had loose NC microphone in right earcup, made for lots of noise when NC was on Monitor button is silly

Great headphones

Geo A., Newegg
26 March 2011
  • Summary: - don't be fooled by detachable cord - they are not wireless. Not a con, but to keep in mind.
  • Pros: - sleak design (it's a Sony) and a cool carry-case - very light weight and comfortable - the monitor button on the side (to lower the volume and listen to surrounding without taking them off) is definitely an amazing feature!!
  • Cons: - cord is somewhat short (just get a $3 worth extention) - pricey

Eh...

Keith Y., Newegg
18 October 2010
  • Summary: Maybe my standards are too high, I needed something that had great noise-canceling abilities (preferably both PNC and ANC). I also needed some with crisp clear audio and the ability to detect footsteps in first person shooters.
  • Pros: Umm...Clear Audio?
  • Cons: So I purchased these from Best Buy since I could return them if they did not meet my standards. To be honest they are pretty horrible at what they are supposed to do. Like was noted below it can cancel out some wind noise and some ambient room noise but when it comes to things like conversations ...

Ho-Kyeong R., Newegg
8 July 2010
  • Summary: If you want completely silence, I think regular earplug is better.
  • Pros: I have purchased this last week(June/30/2010), and received today(July/8/2010). I used for an hour or so, and I found it only canceled low frequency sound. For example, wind sound, some engine sound.
  • Cons: It does not cancel regular conversation people having near you or keyboard typing sound.

Price and Neweggs fast shipping

Anonymous, Newegg
18 May 2010
  • Summary: I did not have a issues with the battery draining fast.
  • Pros: The noise canceling blocks out approx. 80 to 90 percent of the engine noise, I could hear people talking and we had a crying baby both times over the Atlantic, but the noise was reduced considerably. The sound is very good I did not have crank the volume up. I would recommend them for the casual ...
  • Cons: They are a little heavy and the foam ear pads seem like they collapse so the longer I wore them my ears would touch the inside of the headphone. After about 5 hours of wearing them I would have to take them and rub my ears.

A good buy for the money

Anonymous, Newegg
2 March 2010
  • Summary: I have used these for several 15 hour nonstop flights and found them to be comfortable for the entire flight. I don't know how I endured without them before, and won't take any trip over an hour without them!
  • Pros: Lightweight and comfortable. They do a great job reducing the drone of jet and turboprop engines on long flights. Battery life is longer than I expected but I lost count of how many hours I've used them. Comes with everything you need to connect to audio sources.
  • Cons: None.

Great Heaphones

Paige P., Newegg
9 February 2010
  • Pros: I bought these on sale and they were quite a good deal at the time. I live with an overly yappy roommate and these do wonders for my concentration and now I don't have to blast music to cancel her out XD.So my hearing is probably thankful for the purchase too. I haven't had a problem with them yet .
  • Cons: None that I've come across.

User Review

Justin B., Newegg
9 February 2010
  • Summary: After about three months of 8-10 hour a day use, the C-shaped hanger on the left side broke, causing the left headphone to hang by the delicate internal cord running between the phones.
  • Pros: -Easily disassembled for repairs(below) -Replacement parts are easily accessible by phoning Sony's customer service. -They sounded clear and had a healthy range. -Super comfortable.
  • Cons: -Constantly needed repairs(below) -Noise cancellation barely makes nearby conversations sound distant while music isn't playing, and makes music that IS playing a little louder. -The monitor button was a stupid idea. You can reach up and press the button to mute them, or you pull them off your he...

Best headphones I've ever owned

C R., Newegg
7 December 2009
  • Summary: Get them!
  • Pros: I got these as a replacement for earbuds, as they tend to get uncomfortable after long use. These headphones are comfortable for hours and hours of use. Further, the noise canceling is absolutely amazing. Ambient noise, such as the general hustle and bustle of a coffee shop or restaurant, disappe...
  • Cons: The price is a tad steep, but I would happily take these over my roommate's pair of Bose headphones that are maybe half the quality of these headphones.
