Summary: I'm not an expert when it comes to electrical things but I'm so pleased I purchased these headphones. Not only are they very comfortable to wear if you don't feel like sticking things in your ears, they are also extremely compact and produce excellent sound. I got these to accompany me on my travels this summer, so their folding design and handy complimentary case are so ideal.
Summary: Better than any that I have used, but I guess it will be better used only for flight journey, which is what was intended for anyway. The wire seems too long for the daily use and for movement flexibility, it is kind of too long. it does cancel out noise and does what it says.
Sony MDR-NC40 High Quality Noise Cancelling Headphones
1 April 2011
Summary: These headphones are good for the price. They are slight when you get them and seem only slightly larger than the old fashioned phones you got with a walkman in the 1990s. That aside they sit on the head easily and the single headband doesn't slip as you might think. Without the noise cancelling on they can be a bit tinny, with the real bass only kicking in when it's switched on. They do keep out a lot of the outside noise but obviously are not Bose as these are cheaper.
Summary: Bought these for a long haul flight to Australia. Cancelled out engine and cabin noise brilliantly. Good sound quality. Good battery life. Neat folding design. Best value for money in cheap NC headphones.
Summary: The noise cancelling headphones are excellent value. I have used them on flights and they make the flying a little more of a pleasure. They are lightweight and the pouch is very convenient for storage.
Summary: I needed headphones for train journeys to & from London. These work fine & reduce much of the surrounding noise & constant train announcements. Using a laptop I needed to cut out any of the computer noises, whisles & bells, so as not to annoy my fellow passengers, so using headphones achieves this. Phones are adjustable for size, comfortable & stow away neatly in soft pouch supplied. All together I'm very pleased.
Summary: The Sony MDR - NC40 is a terrific addition to the Sony headphone range. The sound quality is excellent and the NOISE CANCELLING circuitry works extremely well.It is aimed squarely at the travelling public, but is very useful for home use. The headphones of are of lightweight over-the-head construction, fold-up for storage and are supplied with a neat zipper carry case.
Summary: Well, being portable head phones, you can't expect these to be of the same quality as more expensive 'non portable' head phones. That said, I find them to be a welcome relief from the annoying big printing machinery behind me and the endless drone of my colleagues talking. Note that it cannot get rid of all sound, that's not what these are about, but it will significantly reduce sound and eliminate the continuous frequency sounds.
Summary: First off, I have to say that these headphones sound absolutely amazing, well worth the price if its sound quality you're after. They take a few hours to get used to. To begin with the noise cancelling feels a bit weird, like your ears have popped but you soon get used to it. The noise cancelling gets rid of droning or humming sounds like engine noise on a plane very well, but isn't so good at filtering out irregular noise like speech or background music.
