  • Summary: I have bought these in 2000. The sound is very reminescent of you get when setting a V-like eq (scooped mids) on your favorite sound system. The highs are very present, so is the bass. The high are present and detailed, which I like, while the bass is really boomy and somwhat undamped (i.e. resonant). Where are the mids ? I'd like to find out!

Excellent inexpensive earphones that are comfortable and value for money

  • Excerpt: Back in May, on my birthday, I received a nice silver iPod. I'd wanted one for sometime - its compactness, ease of use, and capacity were all appealing. However, what really sold me on an mp3 player was its size. It can be tucked easily in a pocket - even in jeans pockets (and I, probably inadvisably, wear my jeans tight. In the interests of portability, the iPod comes with small in-the-ear budded earphones...which are hideously uncomfortable, and mediocre sound quality.

  • Excerpt: I have had these headphones for nearly 3 years now, and they have never, ever let me down. It was recently that I got my new iPod, and I decided that these headphones were getting a bit old. So I got a cheaper pair of Sony headphones for around £18. The new pair were not too bad to start with, but after about two weeks, started to get worn out already! They sounded as though they were about to blow up at any second! The distortion was driving me crazy.

  • Excerpt: You've just bought a state-of-the-art minidisc player for £200. It's fully compatible with your super-fast PC via its expensive-looking docking bay, and its display glows a cool blue. After writing a few minidiscs using the latest high quality compression format (virtually indistinguishable from the CD original) you're going into town to do some shopping and you take your fully charged gadget and slip it into your inside pocket.

  • Excerpt: I bought these earphones for two principle reasons. First, I cannot stand cheap leaky earphones so often disturbing my jouney to and from work on the bus. Why they beleive the rest of the bus must listen to their walkman because they are too deaf to hear it themselves confuses the hell out of me. These, however, plug neatly into the ear which means I can turn down the volume, save my own hearing for future use when old, and save the battery life on the iPod.

  • Excerpt: I bought these as a replacement for some earphones which came with my CD player, and what a replacement. I tried them out when I got back from the shop with some hard trance and was sitting there in awe of the quality - usually I need the bass boost on the CD player to do the tracks any justice but now I have to turn it off or it'll shake my head apart! It's good, crisp bass and it doesn't take anything away from the rest of the frequency range.

  • Excerpt: Well these babies certainly set you back some, and the main question here is "are they worth it?" Great quality sound pumped staight into you rinner ear may sound like a great idea but is this the case in practice? I bought a pair of these 'phones to replace some crappy ones that came with my minidisc player and just weren't doing it justice.
  • Cons: "maybe some kind of bad for your hearing thing..."

  • Excerpt: The best 'in ear' earphones I have ever uesd. Very snug in the ear and I'm sure the quality of sound can't be beaten by any other earphone. The clarity throughout all the range is absolutely outstanding. Now that I've used these I wouldn't want to use any others ever again. Initially they might take a little getting used to though.

Ohrtorpedos - Ecstasy im Ohr

softeis, Ciao
5 June 2003
