Stylish, business class earphones

head-fi.org
29 August 2012
  • Excerpt: I actually got these on sale for less than $10, so thanks to the guy who probably didn't print the price correctly. Anyway, these earphones use a fairly large dynamic driver, which you listen to from the side. This improves bass, which is very detailed and well extended, and the treble too is very crisp...almost to the point of being fatiguing.
  • Pros: Detailed sound
  • Cons: A little bit thin

Anyway, these earphones use a fairly large dynamic driver, which you listen to from the side. • Summary: I was really pleased with the sound, but they lasted only 10 and a half months. The left channel just died, while walking on the street. Fortunately for me, I got a refund from iheadphones.co.uk.
  • Pros: entertaining sound signature, quality bass
  • Cons: a bit too sparky highs for me

Crystal clear sound quality

  • Summary: Let me first start with saying that I am very picky about my personal sound equipment, and wouldn't touch those cheap and crappy earphones that so many music players come bundled with. Throughout the last decade I have been a great fan of Sony's in-ear headphones. My last earphone was the Sony MDR-EX71, but when it finally broke (as my earphones for some reason tend to do after a year or two) I thought that I would try out something different.

Sony EX500s, Walkman headphones for extra clarity & sound definition...

surfer pete, Amazon

  • Summary: I bought these Sony MDR-EX500 headphones as an upgrade to the Sony EX082 `phones that came with my Sony NWZ-828 MP4 Walkman,(the EX082's failed due to a loose connection) So, I decided to go for the EX500s as an upgrade and the sound quality is generally very impressive. Compared to the `82s, the `500s seem to have a much wider and expansive field of sound with greater depth and clarity across the whole sound spectrum.

Good base, rich sound

  • Summary: I bought some expensive in-ear phones quite recently. They sounded good but the things kept popping out of my ear, and eventually one of the wires split. So I replaced them with these things. Half the price and sound even better. I'm not an expert, but as soon as I tried these I was very impressed.
