Disposables.

  • Summary: For those of us for whom ear buds do not work and prefer a simple design rather than something out of Star Trek, this is the only option I've found for over the head, athletic headphones. They work fine until they stop working fine, which for me was about a year. Reluctantly and lacking any other options, I recently just ordered another pair.

Best Value I Know Of

JD Cyclist, J&R
3 December 2009
  • Summary: Wonderfully clean, wide range sound and amazing imaging from a headphone you can buy with pocket change! Very sensitive so amps are typically not necessary. I use these mostly with a Sony 438 series MP3 player. It is a good workout headset too although I somewhat prefer the Sennheiser PX series which go behind the neck and uses a single cord so no wires at the front of your body but are more expensive and maybe more durable but the Sony's are a great buy and sound...

Not Enough Bass

~ Serpent Lord ~, J&R
11 August 2009
  • Summary: With a Creative MuVo these just don't have enough bass! The MDR-A34's set the bar and now these are no longer produced. :-( These hp's aren't the dainty little things some would have you believe though. The beauty of over-the-head type phones is that if you wear glasses they keep them from bouncing on your nose while running...so AFAIK Sony doesn't make any good ones anymore.
  • Pros: Good Highs

Best Headphone Value Period

JD, B&H Photo
17 December 2008
  • Summary: The Sony MDR-A35G is a little powerhouse of a headphone that outperforms all earbuds and over the ear headphones under[$]. My [$], highly acclaimed, Sennheiser HD280 PRO's are inferior for bass impact and only can play louder when well amped, so overall the A35's are better. My Sennheiser PX-100 and PX-200's are no match either. A great value and they play loud and clear with wimpy amps.

You almost forget they're on your head but the clear sounds won't let you totally forget you have 'phones on.Only things that keeps them from a 5 Star review:No volume control and bass response could be stronger (only rated at 20 Mhtz).
