Normally, a pair of cheap, dollar-store headphones might last you at best a few months. And that’s true. I’ve gone through at least five pairs of cheap, low quality brands of headphones that were less than five dollars a piece. They break, they’re uncomfortable, their sound quality is horrible, and most importantly, they break! You might find that a wire breaks off, or some padding falls off after a few days of use. These headphones are a good alternative to earbuds (which I always found uncomfortable). In addition to the better than average sound quality for headphones of this kind, they fold up very compactly. Inexpensive too. Great for puttering around the house, walking around outside, car rides, when used with laptop. Read more

Advantages: comfortable, easy to use, good quality sound, loud, durable, lightweight, ideal for travel, cheap! Disadvantages: None I bought a pair of these back in around 2005 and they have only just given up, after accompanying me to on numerous trips abroad, plus hundreds of bus and train journeys and thousands of more mundane trips to and from work. They served me well. Read more
