User Review

spkg, Adorama

  • Excerpt: This headset is ideal for someone who wants simply the best of both sound quality and noise cancellation beyond all else. however it comes at a price, literally and figuratively. The biggest draw back being the size and the weight, the NC500(600)D is already on the large side compared to most of its...

Good in passive mode, not so good in NC

jamie1971 "jamie1971", Amazon

  • Summary: There are a number of very positive reviews on here, and while I agree with a lot of what is said I'd just like to point out that the sound changes considerably in Noise cancelling mode (Mids disappear, but the unruly bass is toned down).

Great Cans

Ozzy, Amazon
2 July 2013
  • Summary: Really nice cans. Obviously lovely build and design as a premium product from Sony with a metal band and soft faux leather, great "warm" sound with all that good stuff, sound cancelling is effective for bass frequencies i.e.

Amazing, but only get the NC if you're going to use it a lot.

John Taylor, Amazon
2 July 2013
  • Summary: The sound quality is the best I've heard, and in my opinion the design is perfect! However, if you're not going to be using the noise cancelling a lot, then get the Sony MDR-1R. You can get them for about £150, and they are said to sound better, more comfortable and are a lot cheaper.

Peter J. Girling, Amazon

  • Summary: Bought these when my Sony MDR-NC500's died after several years of trusty service. These don't seem quite as good as the NC500's were at blocking out the noise of my neighbours slamming doors and stomping up and down stairs. The on/off switch seems more fragile, as does the recharging socket.

Very good sound quality

Robodent, Amazon
2 July 2013
  • Summary: Very good sound quality, noise cancelling is excellent on busy trains or buses, loud environments. Really made me appreciate my music more! Only downside i would say is the problem common to all nosie cancelling headphones i guess, wearing them outside when windy and turned on produces a lot of...

Great for home and office environment

G. Innes, Amazon
2 July 2013
  • Summary: These headphones are very comfortable and effective. I work in a noisy open plan office and with noise cancelling on my colleagues voices seem very far away :) With music playing on a low volume, the background noise of the office is almost completely gone. Peace.

Can recommend.

neillm, Amazon
2 July 2013
  • Summary: Just come from a similar priced pair of noise cancelling headphones that, while were of great sound and build quality, had ear-cups that were far too small and caused physical pain (I have average-sized ears).

Mickey L., Amazon
2 July 2013
  • Summary: The noise cancelling is brilliant, ventilator (I believe it would be the same for aircraft engines) noises are (at least to me) perfectly cancelled. Typing noises are also greatly reduced when the noise cancelling is on. I am however, not sure about the battery status indication system.
