Sol Republic Master Tracks review: A slick, sturdy headphone with strong bass

CNET
4 November 2013
  • Summary: The Sol Republic Master Tracks have a distinct, eye-catching design and good performance, offering better, more refined sound than the original Tracks.
  • Pros: The over-the-ear Sol Republic Master Tracks have a clean, modern design, and offer a relatively comfortable fit with good sound that's punctuated by strong bass response. Also, the headband can be swapped out; the cords are detachable; and there's an Apple friendly inline remote/microphone.
  • Cons: The headphones don't fold up or fold flat. Also, they don't sound as detailed at lower volumes.

SOL Republic Master Tracks Over-Ear Headphones Review

gadgetmac.com
7 May 2013
  • Excerpt: At CES 2013, Sol Republic unveiled the Master Tracks , their top-of-the line over-ear headphones that sets its sights on taking over what Dr. Dre and the Beats began. Designed with simplicity in mind, the Master Tracks don't scream for attention with its matte black finish. However, the same cannot be said about its sound experience.

SOL Republic Master Tracks Review

Digitaltrends
2 May 2013
  • Conclusion: We think Sol Republic has really got something here. The Master Tracks’ sleek styling, rugged durability, and impressively well-rounded sound signature exceeded our expectations. While the Master Tracks don’t deliver what we’d call “elite” sound, they get closer to that level than you’d expect from a $200 headset and sound far better than most we’ve tested at that price point.
  • Pros: Clear, well balanced sound signature, Powerful, defined low end, Huge dimensional soundscape, Rugged yet elegant design
  • Cons: Slight lack of detail in timbre of instruments, Bass occasionally a bit heavy

SOL Republic Master Tracks

PC Magazine
22 March 2013
  • Conclusion: The SOL Republic Master Tracks headphones feature a comfortable design and plenty of low-end, but highs and high-mids could be more present.
  • Pros: Comfortable fit. Delivers powerful audio with distortion-free deep bass. Earcups and cables are replaceable. Inline microphone and remote control for mobile devices.
  • Cons: Highly sculpted frequency response with boosted bass, lacks a bit in high-mids and highs. Ear pads tend to get hot.

Expert Review

Lyd & Billede
25 March 2014
