Sol Republic Master Tracks
5 June 2013
Excerpt: Despite their high price, Master Tracks are made substantially from plastic. They feature a minimalist design that doesn’t feel cheap, but isn’t as polished or cohesive as some of the best fashion headphones we’ve seen. For instance, the headband is a simple flexible piece of plastic enhanced with padding at the top.
SOL Republic Master Tracks Over-Ear Headphones Review
7 May 2013
Excerpt: At CES 2013, Sol Republic unveiled the Master Tracks , their top-of-the line over-ear headphones that sets its sights on taking over what Dr. Dre and the Beats began. Designed with simplicity in mind, the Master Tracks don't scream for attention with its matte black finish. However, the same cannot be said about its sound experience.
Conclusion: We think Sol Republic has really got something here. The Master Tracks’ sleek styling, rugged durability, and impressively well-rounded sound signature exceeded our expectations. While the Master Tracks don’t deliver what we’d call “elite” sound, they get closer to that level than you’d expect from a $200 headset and sound far better than most we’ve tested at that price point.
Pros: Clear, well balanced sound signature, Powerful, defined low end, Huge dimensional soundscape, Rugged yet elegant design
Cons: Slight lack of detail in timbre of instruments, Bass occasionally a bit heavy
