broke after a few months of everyday use

Nick W., Newegg
4 August 2015
  • Summary: Had just purchased some SLYR1s for my PS4....think I'll send those back straight away.
  • Pros: Great sound Nice Mic quality
  • Cons: Plastic bracket holding left ear cup to headband broke. I had started using them everyday the last few months. I am 6 months out of the limited 1 year warranty so nothing to be done other than complain. Not the build quality i was expecting when i dropped $180

sadly trash

Ernest P., Newegg
7 July 2015
  • Summary: the wireless was nice, but the mic would quit working so quick and then shortly after the whole left side will stop working. serious QC issues.
  • Pros: was a decent headset when it worked.
  • Cons: very cheap build broke on me within 1 year and i went through hell with the RMA and when i did receive the replacement it broke within 6 months. very poor wiring. very thin wire that rips with normal use. also it needs an amp to get actual good sound levels from it.

Garbage - 3 broke in 4 months

Kyle S., Newegg
25 February 2015
  • Summary: First pair lasted 5 weeks. Had to go through Skullcandy to get a replacement and pay to ship them back. Those lasted 4 weeks. Had to pay again to send back for another set. Those lasted a week. Agreed on the phone with support that I'd get a refund. Paid to send the 3rd headset back.
  • Pros: None, these are garbage and Skullcandy support is worthless.
  • Cons: Unreliable, poor quality.

Terrible Quality - Stay far far away

Robert R., Newegg
28 January 2015
  • Summary: I got these as a gift and read a lot of reviews before deciding if I should keep them. I read a lot of negative reviews about build quality. I just decided I would treat them like a baby and literally did just that. I can see how they could crack if I didn't.
  • Pros: Comfy, great sound quality, battery lasts a pretty good length of time, look cool, and all the features I would want in a gaming headset.
  • Cons: Headset died completely after 1 month and 1 day of moderate use. Quality of material feels very cheap.

Changing my review

stephen h., Newegg
6 January 2015
  • Summary: I have owned these headphones for over a year now and in that time I have had the headphone break twice for the exact same reason. The plastic housings that secures the earpiece to the headband will break because they are made of cheap materials.
  • Pros: 7.1 Surround sound and very stylish. These headphones look like they would last a long time.
  • Cons: They are not made for people with hair or people who have to extend the earmuffs to the maximum to fit over your head. I

Would not recommend, for the price

Aaron F., Newegg
26 December 2014
  • Summary: i would avoid this headset at all costs. defiantly not worth the price.
  • Pros: Nice sound, clear mic, good comfortable build & light weight. can wear for many hours straight without taking them off. This headset is great for music and movies but will defiantly not meet your needs for gaming.
  • Cons: Way to expensive, for the headset. the surround sound is completely broken, and does not sound like anything close to 7.1. They also took a very long time to break the headset in.

Great Headset

Cristian H., Newegg
16 November 2014
  • Summary: Overall It's a good headset. Just If you have $180 to spare then you can get it if you want.
  • Pros: -Great Sound Quality -Great Range -Wireless Obviously -Rechargable (It has it's own battery but this could be a con if you want to use your own battery) I've had this Headset over 11 months now and I have to say the Plyr1 has done it's time.
  • Cons: -The Mic is very low. When I'm using the mic i have to talk up and it bugs me to do so whether i would like a mic where i can talk normally and not have to worry about others hearing me. The Side button on the mic is annoying if you want to lay down on your side. The loud beep when you have to re...

User Review

Brett S., Newegg
10 November 2014
  • Summary: Like most, I take pride of ownership on these things, meaning no abuse. Better than normal wear and tear. I have enjoyed Skullcandy earbuds. I probably was hoping the PLYR1 price point was reflective of the quality. I couldn't have been more wrong.
  • Pros: Looked good out of the box. Not overly large and clunky. Range is good. Battery life not a issue.
  • Cons: Plastic broke around the screws above the ear cups after five weeks on right side, left side broke two days later. Didn't expect to use the zip-ties so soon. Friends on Vent claimed low volume, confirmed by self recording and playback. Web videos would often fade out during non-speaking pauses be...

Stopped working after 5 months

Scott W., Newegg
4 November 2014
  • Pros: WIreless. Worked as advertised for 6 months.
  • Cons: Microphone and sound quality mediocre at best. Not worth $150. Further, device completely dead after 6 months of use. Horrible Skullcandy customer service expected me to pay for shipping on return and wait a month + for a return of my repaired item. I would NEVER buy another product from Skullcan...
