  • Summary: I don't know how I see so many reviews of people with issues of it breaking. I bought mine 1-10-2014 and still use everyday. That is just over 2 years and still like new.
  • Pros: Everything. Sound is awesome, comfortable, battery lasts a very long time. They are not as good quality as the Astro A50 (I bought that one for my son) but at about 1/2 the price they much better bang for your buck.
  • Cons: None

Good sound, bad product quality

Patrick P., Newegg
18 January 2016
  • Summary: Really disappointed with these because I really liked them. Great sound and it's a bonus that they're wireless. However, they either need to lower their prices or do something about the quality because the price point for the quality just isn't there.
  • Pros: Average overall product, good sound, good mic quality. Comes with a nice holder to dock your headset on and put out of the way while not in use.
  • Cons: Plastic quality is cheap. There are three little screws that connect the plastic of the headset to the ear pieces and within the first 6 months of owning it the screws that hold the plastic together at the earpiece, snapped. I was able to put it back together and it held for another about 8 month...

Still working after all these years

Joseph M., Newegg
7 December 2015
  • Summary: All in all a competent well made head set that isn't perfect, but it won't die on you and it has outlasted more and less expensive options for me.
  • Pros: It works, even after I dug it out of storage after 9 months because my Steelseries H wireless stopped working. The sound is good, but you need to hook up the optical cable, i think, to get directional sound.
  • Cons: The plastic can be brittle, but it can be superglued. mic has had some isues for me on some voip related programs, but not others.

Skullycandy PLYR

Ian B., Newegg
29 November 2015
  • Summary: Broke too quick. Everyone I talked to before buying this product said skull candy had cheap construction and they proved it to me here. The technology here is great but the basics are bit off.
  • Pros: - Look Great. I had in the white color scheme and was really satisfied with how the set looked out of the box. - Boom mic is excellent. Best mic on a gaming headset I've had. Not only is quality good for a headset but the mic itself is both adjustable and sturdy. - 7.1 surround. Took a bit of wor...
  • Cons: - Construction. The headset broke about 8 months after using them. They broke at the black plastic that connects the right ear piece to the top of the set. This happened while putting the headset on. I may have been eager to sit down for a nice gaming session but I wouldn't say I pulled at them w...

broke after a few months of everyday use

Nick W., Newegg
4 August 2015
  • Summary: Had just purchased some SLYR1s for my PS4....think I'll send those back straight away.
  • Pros: Great sound Nice Mic quality
  • Cons: Plastic bracket holding left ear cup to headband broke. I had started using them everyday the last few months. I am 6 months out of the limited 1 year warranty so nothing to be done other than complain. Not the build quality i was expecting when i dropped $180

sadly trash

Ernest P., Newegg
7 July 2015
  • Summary: the wireless was nice, but the mic would quit working so quick and then shortly after the whole left side will stop working. serious QC issues.
  • Pros: was a decent headset when it worked.
  • Cons: very cheap build broke on me within 1 year and i went through hell with the RMA and when i did receive the replacement it broke within 6 months. very poor wiring. very thin wire that rips with normal use. also it needs an amp to get actual good sound levels from it.

Garbage - 3 broke in 4 months

Kyle S., Newegg
25 February 2015
  • Summary: First pair lasted 5 weeks. Had to go through Skullcandy to get a replacement and pay to ship them back. Those lasted 4 weeks. Had to pay again to send back for another set. Those lasted a week. Agreed on the phone with support that I'd get a refund. Paid to send the 3rd headset back.
  • Pros: None, these are garbage and Skullcandy support is worthless.
  • Cons: Unreliable, poor quality.

Terrible Quality - Stay far far away

Robert R., Newegg
28 January 2015
  • Summary: I got these as a gift and read a lot of reviews before deciding if I should keep them. I read a lot of negative reviews about build quality. I just decided I would treat them like a baby and literally did just that. I can see how they could crack if I didn't.
  • Pros: Comfy, great sound quality, battery lasts a pretty good length of time, look cool, and all the features I would want in a gaming headset.
  • Cons: Headset died completely after 1 month and 1 day of moderate use. Quality of material feels very cheap.

Changing my review

stephen h., Newegg
6 January 2015
  • Summary: I have owned these headphones for over a year now and in that time I have had the headphone break twice for the exact same reason. The plastic housings that secures the earpiece to the headband will break because they are made of cheap materials.
  • Pros: 7.1 Surround sound and very stylish. These headphones look like they would last a long time.
  • Cons: They are not made for people with hair or people who have to extend the earmuffs to the maximum to fit over your head. I
