  • Summary: Exceeded my expectations and they were quite high. I couldn't be more pleased my next step up the Shure ladder will be the 530's.

Shure SE420 Sound Isolating Earphones

  • Summary: I gave up on the Bose Quiet Comfort 2 after having 3 pairs break. I had read several positive professional and user reviews regarding Shure earphones and decided to give the SE420 a try. I have used them for about 3 months now in the office and on airplanes, including long-haul flights.

Shure SE420 Sound Isolating Earphones

  • Summary: These Shure earphones have two drivers in them. They sound very good. They are full and rich everywhere, but just a little lighter in the bass department. For more bass, get the Shure 530 which has three drivers: one treble and two bass drivers. I also have other earphones like the Klipsch Image and others that have one driver in them. I also really enjoy the lighter sound too.

Almost the best...

D. Blackman "D Blackman", Amazon

  • Summary: A very nice pair of earphones, but not *quite* good enough for what I want Good points: Erie noise isolation - I couldn't believe how much external noise these 'phones cut out - to be honest I can't quite see how they achieve it. I've actually settled on the Sennheiser IE8 (I want more bass) but the IE8 is no where near as effective at cutting out external noise. If you're a London tube traveller (or similar) then these are the 'phones for you.

alright..

  • Summary: Solid build; you can feel the quality. wide range of good durable earbuds sound quality feels good but untrained ears like mine probably won't fully appreciate it. Bass is weaker than hoped, so not the best for pop n rock but its just amazing for classical/instrumental quite pricey but if you imagine how many hours you will have it plugged into your ears for at least 2 years its a worth-while investment.

Great but maybe not entirely what you would expect...

Z. Kaj "Zain", Amazon

  • Summary: I bought these earphones trading up from Shure SE110s. While I liked the quality, accessories and noise isolation of the 110s, they were very poor on bass production. I fugured the 420s, with their dual drivers, would be much better in this regard, and they are but they are not as good as I was expecting them to be. That said, here is a run down: 1.

Amazing..

A. Luong, Amazon
16 January 2009
  • Summary: Amazing quality ONLY if you put them in right, have a decent mp3 player or oudio output source, and if the mp3 is in a high quality or lossly format. I have a ipod 4th gen nano and it works great but works even better if you try these on your laptop or pc. May feel uncomfortable at first, but after a few times wearing it it'll feel fine, and it won't feel like anything after a long while. Great seal, great isolation. Great clarity and a good base.

Shure SE420-E in-ear monitor zilver

Ron van Woensel, bax-shop.nl

  • Summary: Top.
