Shure SE420

What Hi-Fi?
24 September 2008
  • Excerpt: The foam in-ear buds prove to be the best option of Shure 's abundant bud offering – although we find them a bit of a pain to fit in the ear. Put it like this: you're not going to want to be putting them in and taking them out very frequently. Play Cornflake Girl by Tori Amos and the SE420s produce an open soundstage with impressive detail, poise and rhythm. Dynamics are excellent, treble is sparkly and sweet, and the vocals are organic and involving.
  • Pros: Much detail, excellent dynamics
  • Cons: Not the most comfortable, Klipsch rival does it even better

Shure SE420 sound-isolating earphones review Review

CNET
8 August 2007
  • Summary: High-performing sound-isolating earphones, but for half as much again you'll get twice the performance. Competing earphones offer better low and high performance for less money. Some wil argue that the method of wearing Shure earphones is too pro for the casual listener, however as an upgrade to a cheaper Shure model, you'll be very pleased
  • Pros: General sound quality, Great sound-isolation, Comfortable
  • Cons: Price, Lack of deep bass, Lack of precise highs, Takes a bit of getting used to stuffing them in the ears
