Summary: Excellent sound, none better in my opinion, and I'm proud of my "golden ears". However, after 2 years and 3 months of service..... That's 3 months out of warranty, mind you, the left cabling started to fray right below the earphone. Oh well, back to my sturdy E3c....
Summary: I somehow lost my E3Cs, so I searched CNET for the best reviewed headphones and came across the E4Cs. I'm so glad I went with them. Great sound for all kinds of music. These can handle any type of EQ, but I wouldn't recommend MAX Bass, although the bass on these is quite impressive. For the money, these blow the competition out of the water.
Summary: I've had these for 4 months and now I have a short in the right earbud. It's outrageous that a pair of $170 headphones would short in 4 months, despite my careful care. I mostly just leave them at work, they hardly even travel. I thought the sound was good, though I'm no audiophile... and the ear attachments are plentiful with enough foam buds to fit any ear if you have the sense to get them in right. But to short completely like this is just absurd.
Summary: I received these earphones two days ago, and they didn't disappoint me!
I was shocked by its strong wires at the first glance, maybe it's the sturdiest wires I have ever seen for a pair of earphones. I think it should be very to break them.
As for the sound, it's awesome! I have purchased several earphones before. Most of them either present a much too strong bass, or have no bass at all! But these e4c earphones have good performances for both low and high frequency.
Summary: When you're looking for quality and sound....Shure is it! Hands down, the most quality and dynamic sound I've ever heard in a headphone. Maybe its me and maybe I got an different model. I knew these were discontinued and I like the price but it seems they just lack that FUNK I was hoping to get via the bass!! For Hip-Hop/R&B and some Contemporary Gospel, you need a strong bass line.
Summary: Great treble and midrange. Not so much bass. Isolates all noise around so you get a clean and natural sound. These are comfortable in the ears. I also have Shure se530 and e4c sound almost as good but not in the bass area. SE530 also has more crisp sound with more punch. looks cooler to.
Summary: I am in no way knowledgable enough to speak about the technical aspects of these earphones but I am able to speak as a consumer who searched for a long time to find the right ones. Found them!
They are light and the sound can't be compared to what I was used to before. In fact, I find that sometimes the sounds of the real world are inferior when I take my earphones off after an extended use. I used to own Shure SE210-K and the Shure E4C sounds superior to me.
Summary: I don't know that I would pay this much for headphones again, but I am not at all disappointed with the quality. These earbuds sound great and are very crisp. There isn't as much bass response as some of the other earbuds out there, but at the same time, the balance between bass, mid and treble is almost perfect. I would recommend these earbuds to anyone in the market for a higher end listening experience.
