Excerpt: This is the third set of headphones that I've used with my Apple iPod (4th gen 40GB). The single biggest factor that affects the performance of the Shure E3c headphones are the sleeves that you choose to use. It comes with three different types: soft gray flexible sleeves (three sizes: S|M|L), hard clear plastic sleeves (three sizes: S|M|L) and universal fit yellow foam sleeves.
Summary: I just purchased these yesterday to replace the Aiwa earbuds I was using. The Aiwa's being probably one of the cheapest pair of earphones I've purchased(compared to Sony's and Senn's), sounded pretty good...I figured the Shure E3c's would be a major step up and give me a nice well rounded sound from my Ipod and portable DVD player which is what I mainly us my earbud type 'phones for...I am surprisingly disappointed with the performace of the Shure's..
