Great headphones, but overpriced

Garrett M., Newegg
28 September 2014
  • Summary: These are excellent sounding headphones that are simply too expensive to warrant a 5 star rating due to the rather old 2.4GHz wireless frequency they run on. To prevent audio dropouts, some people (including myself) have had success in changing their WiFi channel on their 2.4GHz radio of their...
  • Pros: Excellent Sound Quality Variety of input options Good Wireless Range
  • Cons: Uses old 2.4GHz wireless technology which can conflict with WLAN and Bluetooth signals causing dropouts (troubleshooting section of owner's manual even mentions this). Unusually long charge time for batteries in headset (16 hour charge for 8 hours of use) Very Expensive

Surprisingly Capable Headphones

  • Summary: Using my hifi in the presence of a newborn baby was tough but I now have audiophile quality sound while holding the screamer between the bathroom, kitchen and lounge (yay!). You have to position the transmitter unit carefully to get the best spread which might not work aesthetically for some.
  • Pros: sound quality , convenience , features
  • Cons: creaky plastic build , price , needs careful positioning

  • Summary: Primarily I was looking to purchase a set of Sennheiser RS 185 open backed headphones. But when I looked into it , I decided upon these. The reason being that the control unit allows for Coaxial , Optical plus Analogue input. Then you can loop these out directly to a preamp or control unit.

  • Summary: During the 25 yrs as a audiophile I have only owned one previous set of headphones, much prefering the amp and speaker setup. A change at home and a partner that doesn't share my enthusiasm for listening to music 24/7 meant in order to keep the peace i would try listening to music through my old...

  • Summary: I am not an audiophile, but this made me. The only regret I have is since started hearing using Sennheiser 220, my ears are now dismissing even my favorite Sennheiser HD 439 (4000Rs ) 70$ over ear headphone. Damn you 220.

Audio fine, controls not.

  • Summary: The sound quality is nice, as one would expect from Sennheiser, but the functions of the various control buttons are not intuitively clear. "Volume -/L" and "Volume +R" are confusing.

  • Summary: I'm really disappointed with these RS220. Being a long time Sennheiser satisfied customer, owning the RS65, RS110 and the RS120 (RS 126 II), as far as it comes to wireless headphones, I was recently given, for my birthday, the RS220.
